Our local biologist here in Central Wa. has asked me and the Rocky Mtn. Goat Alliance to organize some volunteers for a big survey in an area that holds lots of goats and more than likely will lead to a couple more goat units and several more tags. So for all of you wanna be goat hunters out there, here is your chance to help us get some more goat permits in Washington. The tentative plan is to meet up Friday night, Aug. 15th, and spend all day of the 16th and 17th on mtn. spotting goats and mapping them. We are gonna need a lot of help, so grab your backpack and gear and come help us help goats. More solid info will come in the next few weeks. If you are not a member yet, hurry up and join RMGA and come join our mission.

I'm in, I've actually been talking (actually more like complaining, nagging, and whining) with bio's for years on the matter (amoungst many other issues). Literally this week, we plotted areas for gathering head counts.

Awesome guys! I know it's bear season, but it was the best time we could come up with. We can use all the eyes we can get for this. This could be a real big deal for goat hunting in Washington. The local bio and head of goats in Wa. are both on board with getting some accurate counts and then flying it all in the hopes of getting some permits in there. So all the help we can get will be awesome.

Okay guys, we are starting to get organized and put our plan together, so we need many more volunteers for this project not only to get a good survey done, but also to show the WDFW how serious we are about getting more goat tags. It's gonna be a great project and a fun weekend of hiking, camping and glassing mountain goats, what could be better?

It's starting to come together and in fact I spoke with the bio today and he said that the forest circus WANTS us to hunt goat in a few areas that are NOT being hunted now because of TOO MANY goats causing problems.....sounds like a a good problem to me...
