Nice. I'm a western hunter as well and while I do a lot of spot and stalk hunting I also hunt over a water hole from a tree stand for elk a lot too. In fact, I probably do that more than anything. I'm trying to figure out a one bow for everything type of setup and trying to decide on what length I would like. I'm thinking a r/d longbow in the 58 to 60 inch range, but at my 27 inch draw length In even considering 56 inches as well. Top contenders are a Toelke Pika, Toelke Whistler, Javaman elk heart, or Javaman Falcon. Decisions, decisions.

I have a couple 62 inch bows and the length of them doesn't really bother too much. I'm not sure if it's wise to try to move too short. I do have one 60 inch bow and that just feels really perfect to me. That's the length I'm kind of leaning towards the most.

25.5-26 inch draw, I much prefer shorter bows, 54 -56. I’ve had a pile of 58-62 and my shorter bows do everything the long ones did, just better being shorter lol. East coast tree stands to western elk and Mullies. I will prolly never order another bow bigger then 56 honestly.

My new 54 pika. 25 yard point on so kinda cheating lol. Bow straight pounds for being so short. 325 up front, around 600 total. Will be a straight killer.

I started with a 58 in Jack Kempf little grizzly way long ago. Shot 58” for a long time. Messed around with some shorties and some longs. For the past 12 years or so shot 60”. Now settled on a 62 incher.

At 28.75 draw it’s a toss up. I’m liking the 62s most. I prefer the west but am up for anywhere

I find limb profile and performance more important than just length. My 58" Whistler and my 62" recurve are similar oal strung, vastly different and I have no idea how my life would be without both.
