If you could move and live anywhere in the lower 48 where would you go?

Live in Tennessee and have a 2nd home out west, or anywhere and move permanently to a state without a state income tax ie Alaska, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas or Wyoming …and I’ve been here my whole 58 years in TN and we love it out West. Good luck OP.

I really do genuinely enjoy living in Wisconsin, but I’ve always been curious about North Carolina. I’m not sure what it is about that state but for some reason it’s very intriguing.

I would say Colorado, or California, because they have the best mountains, but… too many peeps. Since I already live in one of the best outdoor lower 48s, I’ll range a bit farther and say Yukon Territory. The population density makes Wyoming look crowded; I love Canada, and I prefer Canadian politics.

I've lived in TN my whole life and am in my early 40s. I've been fortunate enough to hunt several of the western states and up in Canada. I think I'd love to move to WY but just not sure how I'd handle those winters! The better half has already said no to moving! Haha. So what you say or you already living the dream!

Honestly, I’ll take 0° and dry over 40° and humid, all day long. The kind of cold you folks get in the southeast is no joke.

That being said, it is pretty miserable when it gets to -20° and blowing 20 mph, gusting to 40.

I guess if we are talking about a dream I’d say I would love to pick up a couple thousand acres in the Edward’s plateau area of Texas somewhere around Rocksprings. It’s pretty quiet out there. Good hunting for all kinds of stuff. Pretty country. I like Texas. Gets some negativity around here due to lack of public land but if I could get a couple thousand acres that wouldn’t matter to me much.

In reality I think I’m about where I’d like to be here in southeast AZ.

Cant beat the weather and stuff to do. But like anywhere, there are also downsides.

I bought my house back in the 80s and Ive made 1000% in equity since then. Something to think about if you're considering moving somewhere

I love SC, easy access to the Appalachians, reasonable-ish cost of living, four distinct seasons in the upstate, etc. As much as I love WY & MT I couldn't do the winters.

NC is absolutely an intriguing state. Maybe I'm biased.

Despite being 28th in overall size, it has the 7th largest coastline in the United States, the tallest mountains East of the Rockies with 52 peaks over 6,000ft in elevation, and is one of the most biodiverse places in the world. From the swamps on the East Coast that are more akin to Louisiana, to mountains in the West whose climate is more akin to Maine. You can find it all in NC.

Random fact, the Venus Fly Trap are native to and can only be found in the wild in the Carolina subtropical swamps on the coast. The more you know.

As much as I love WY & MT I couldn't do the winters.

Honestly the winters aren’t bad. I much prefer them to southeastern winters.

Lower humidity makes things much more bearable, as does having winter sports with which to utilize the winter.
