Yea, there will always be some parents like that but they are pretty far and few between. As long as your kid isn't encouraging their kids to do things outside their beliefs and is respectful, they wont have any problems.

I have met people from all walks of life that wouldn't let their kids be friends with someone for many reasons. That mentality is not unique to the LDS religion.

Honestly, I am thankful for all the LDS friends I had growing up. They kept me out of a lot of trouble.

We moved here for a job at INL a little over a year ago and I'd agree with most of what you're hearing. It's like any medium scale town. Coming from a much larger town, the traffic is miniscule, the access to the outdoors is excellent, and the people are overall great. It's certainly a different culture than you might find in Denver, but I would make the move again.
