Its not like we are carrying wall tents and stoves. So yeah i think can. Pack with everything is ~52 lbs. Leaving tents, bags, and food at camp would only eliminate ~10 lbs.You think you can carry camp on your backs for 10 days? 15?![]()

I am not quite sure why anyone uses these forums, just a bunch Dr. elk hunters like to talk crap to guys trying to go chase elk in a new area. Peak fuel meals weight 6oz do the math or do you need help with that. What you going to eat? Air?
If you guys are packing in 25lbs of food that might be the problem.OP, no offense but you need to be more realistic. The amount of calories needed to hunt for 10 days in that country alone would weigh half or more of your pack weight. And what you going to do if you actually kill something the size and weight of an elk?
Agree, 11.5 pounds. It is fairly easy to carry 10 days of food in your pack with high quality dehydrated meals. Typically estimate 1.5 pounds per day. I am not carrying my camp the entire time but we are planning on taking our base camp back in about 6 miles then will hike from there with our hunting packs.
Just Rage baiting you. bad sense of humor.1.5 lbs a day is 15 lbs for 10 days.
The point was that if you are carrying your camp on your back until you get into elk, you will be carrying it the entire time because you will not get into elk there. Its not like we are carrying wall tents and stoves. Don’t know that I read this correctly, you’re saying that you would start off with a 52lb pack hunting rough country and it might drop by 1-2 pounds a day by consuming food? Besides carrying in my stuff to drop it at a predetermined camp area or packing meat out I’m not putting that much on my back while hunting. It’s not like we are carrying wall tents and stoves.
