Only once in many years can I remember them running up to the July 10 deadline. And I think it was in 2018 and they reported around July 8. They’ve already proven that they can do it earlier with 3rd week of June results up often lately.

And lots of us like to plan as have very busy summers. A week or
Two difference can free up a weekend that is lost with later post dates.

Exactly. They are the last state in the west to post results but there’s states with later deadlines for applicants. It’s not much to ask for a dependable June release each year. A lot of us have vacation planned the 4th of July week and would like to spend it scouting for these once in a life type tags.

I agree 100% , I just don't understand people getting fired up when the results aren't early. If they say July 10th, we've got nothing to bitch about until July 11th. I'd like to see them posted in March, give everyone plenty of time to plan scouting trips and line up vacation time.
Gotcha. Yeah that makes sense.

I am an accountant. If I don't complain about this, what am I supposed to complain about? Debits and credits?

I am not upset that the results are not available yet, but all things equal, early is better. However, my boomer boss is going to be livid if I wait until July to put in for 2 weeks of August PTO.

Giving IDFG 35 calendar days to accomplish a task easily accomplishable with todays technology is like giving your mechanic 2 weeks to change your oil.

July 10th cutoff was mildly understandable when they still allowed mailed in applications.

Every application has a unique application number.

What am I missing? NASA must have overwritten the original files, right?

I have over 30 years of putting in for an elk tag in the same unit, it's not a high end unit at all but I've never drawn a single tag yet! Odds of drawn ID are super low! At any rate good luck all!

I don't understand why everyone gets their panties in a bunch because the results aren't posted early. It would be nice if they were early and I absolutely agree that the administrative side of Idaho Farm & Game is a total cluster bone but it's been July 10th for as I've been applying. Everyone knows the date before they apply, every year, either quit whining or quit applying.
my entire season and planning is waiting on this draw! that it why and along with a bunch of others. I cant even really scout, put in my vacation or make any concrete plans until these results are out everything changes If I draw a tag.

Same as every year, nothing new. You knew that the results would be available on or before July 10th when you applied.

I want results just as bad as anyone else, but I think they need to push the app period up like 3 months earlier. So then when the results are “late” but still before the date they say they’ll be out everyone can continue to complain and maybe look for another fall back plan while they’re at it.

Maybe increase odds maybe not, but all this doesn’t matter as Idaho seems to be perfectly content with the timeline they have as it’s probably a money maker being the state with the latest application period. I guess it pays to have a job that nobody else wants as it gives me the flexibility to schedule time off as late as I need/want to. 😂 Cheers and best of luck to all in the draw! 🍻

The thing is, they arnt the state with the latest app date. South Dakota’s is later and their draw is already done. June 16th ended the application period and we knew results on the 26th. And that’s a state that has to calculate preference points and makes a 1/3 of the amount of money on a non resident deer tag.
