Idaho 2025 Moose/Sheep/Goat draw

I actually pushed for a similar system for Oil tags in Oregon when I lived there, money up front and separate draw timing. I wrote a proposal on it and submitted it to OBH, OHA, and FNAWS.

Points make no sense on OIL tags, there isn't the quantity to work though the demand.

Not trying to be a an azzhole here, but can you explain to me why OIL DOESN'T make sense for points for you,....but you keep pushing them for deer/elk/antelope in Idaho? Is it simply the draw odds?...because that makes no sense to me. There are many deer/elk/antelope with WORSE draw odds than the OIL tags.

I'm struggling to follow your logic.

I have neither the crayons or craft paper handy to explain it.

There’s always outliers in high demand tags, as we see draw tags increase, a split allocation system isn’t as bad as it seems. That being said I simply brought it up and played devils advocate.

If your implication is that I’m not capable of following it,…go ahead and give it a shot. I’ll do my best to keep up. I’ll get help if it’s too complicated for me I promise.

Can you define “high demand tags”? Is there a percentage range that makes sense to you as an example?

You did more than play “Devil’s advocate”. You cared enough to submit a proposal to your previous home state (OR). You’ve also acknowledged you’ve benefitted greatly from Idaho’s current system with multiple OIL tags…something that wouldn’t have happened for you with a preference point system. Yet, you’d clearly like to change the Idaho approach.

I disagree 100% with your desire for preference points in Idaho of course, but I think there is value in understanding opposing viewpoints even if I disagree.

You can see my viewpoints on the multiple systems I participate in the other thread. No need to derail this one. I proposed an earlier draw cycle and money up front for oil draws in Oregon, which are currently random and have a million applicants.

Congrats to those who got lucky and drew tags! Does anyone know when ID issues refunds for those of us in the unsuccessful bucket? Still have not seen that money come back through on my card.
I apply online. Last year the credit back to my card hit on 6/13. Idaho is not nearly as quick with the refunds as Wyoming.

I got checks back for my family's OILs last week. We applied in a store.
