I caught a great deal last night and picked up a Helix jacked and Everyday 1/2 zip from Icebreaker. It was an impulse buy but I would like to buy some additional baselayer before a late October Utah hunt. Any feedback as to how Icebreaker ranks quality wise against the numerous other companies now specializing in Merino.

Thanks,
Nick

I have had a couple ice breaker tops, I don't recall the names. A pullover and zip up. They were excellent quality however the fit was not for me at all. I sold or returned them and haven't purchased the brand since then.

Thanks Trial. What was it about the fit that you didn't like and what other brand has fit you better?

I have several Icebreaker pieces, all purchased on clearance or sales. Nothing wrong with them, all seemed good quality to me..

I picked up a short sleeve and quarter zip long sleeve in realtree from them at the end of last year. They ran small, I needed to bump to an XL in them (normally an large) unless a very snug fit was desired (wasn't for me), but with the larger size I think they fit well. I wore the short sleeve on a scouting trip the other day and found if comfortable, dried decently fast, etc. No complaints there for the pricing I got them at. I have a pair of their boxer briefs too. Again no complaints.

I have 2 pair of their merino boxer briefs and 1 pair of their base layer bottoms. So far so good. I will second their stuff is an "athletic" fit at least the stuff I bought. That's the fit I wanted so no complaints from me there though.

I guess this tells me about everything I need to know. I will pick up a couple other pieces and be sure to size up, not quite as athletic as I once was...
Thanks for the quick replies all,
Nick

Depending on your size the icebreaker site is clearancing out some mossey oak and sierra trading post has some real tree icebreaker stuff. No that camo is really even needed for baselayers.

I've used their lightweight merino crew socks for 5 years and love them. The lightweight boxer briefs are great (wife likes them too) and the lightweight wool/nylon blend t shirt I have is my favorite shirt. I'm a huge fan of their stuff.
