I need a lesson in calls

If that’s a public unit otc for archery 2,3 seasons then I would not call. I seldom call even in archery season if I want to kill


Now a trophy unit with less pressure during archery (or early rifle) season yes, or exclusive private. But later hunts I definitely don’t hear the bulls bugling, and if they did they be running away

It's definitely possible to get rutting activity the 1st day of season but after the rifles start firing up that tends to quiet them down. They've had two weeks off from hunters messing with them, so that helps for the 1st day. After that you likely will not hear a peep.

Callin just brings the hunters. Find a good spot and wait. Rifle season in colorado is rough.

Cow call is all I would bring. I snuck to within 30 yards of a bull last September just cow calling to him. He’d bugle right back to me and ask me to come to him which I gladly did!! He’d imitate my call then bugle right after.
