I lost my brother to suicide this week. He was my hunting buddy and someone I talked to all of the time. He struggled with alcoholism and was a police officer. He leaves behind a wife and 3 kids.

This forum has helped me meet some great people and I feel part of the community. As our family heals, this is one way we feel we can help. There has been so much good advice on this forum I have taken to heart. Whether it's parenting, marriage, or friendship it's been helpful.

He was with me on so many hunts and that has given me so many great memories. He was the most enthusiastic hunter. I wish I had him back for one more.

I am not writing this to ask anyone for anything. I hope it helps someone decide to get help. My pain is something I am having trouble describing.

Please, if any of you are hurting, please ask for help.

I am sorry for your loss.

Agree with the others in hoping you find support and have time, space, people, and tools to process it all and handle those moments of "if I would have just..."

Will keep you in my prayers.

Sorry to hear that, prayers for you and his family.

As guys we HAVE to remember, don't let things get so bad before we get some help or tell a friend. We by nature tend to hold things in, for years sometimes, then one day we explode or the weight gets to be too much to bear. I've seen this happen in my family too.

God bless you, his wife, his kids, and the rest of your family and friends.

If you are located close enough to an urban area, there may be a Survivors of Suicide support group, or at least some good grief counselors/groups to consider.

And like you mentioned, i too hope others in similar situations take the risk to reach out for help if in need.

Sorry for your loss.

I wish this country did more for the people who serve and protect us. They deserve so much more than we give them.

Just know the rockslide family is here when/if you need us.

If its of any help and you want to get away, I can connect you guys with an organization here in San Diego that does a lot for military/LE. Their focus is getting them and their families in the outdoors + hunting/fishing.
