I lost my best friend today

this one was the hardest ever and I have done it way too many time. He brought me so much joy both in the field and at home. He was put on this earth to satisfy me, ever bird he pointed and retrieved was not for him but for me. This one will hurt for a very long time. RIP Buddy, Me and mom are heart broken. Your best buddy, Dad.

The best thing you can do is get another and pour the love back into them. We've had three damn good dogs go since July, including my dog. It's a shame they can't live as long as we do. RIP Buddy.

We put down our first shepherd last fall. my 7yo son said "Dad, I didn't even know you could cry". Man it's rough. I take a little of her ashes out on every scouting trip to spread around. Son comes up with stories about her jumping in wallows and chasing animals around.
