Somehow I’ve come to the conclusion I need to own a weatherby, the question I have is between a 6.5-300wby or a 30-378? Been wrestling with this for awhile and wanting some input between these.
Really torn,
gun will be used for mid to long on big game, that means everything from blacktail to moose( if I ever draw) and everything in between.

I’m aware there ar other cartridges out there and that ammo is expensive for these, I appreciate the concern but mind is made up between the two. Thanks for any info you can share.

Great move getting a weatherby! I own 4 now with the latest being a 6.5 ultralight. I prefer smaller caliber rifles myself. This weatherby is my first 6.5 caliber and I am enjoying it. I have hunted to 600 yards so far and this rig will be practised with to 1000. I have killed most of my moose with the 257 weatherby so I know the 6.5 will do anything I want. Both of those calibers you are considering are hotshots! Enjoy your choice!

Go with the 30-378 and really get those .30 cal bullets moving. I have the .300 wby and I enjoy the rifle. I have heard that the 6.5-300 can be finicky to reload but I haven't shot either cartridge.

I have the 6.5 reloads easy well only tried the 127 lrx and its half moa out to 550 which is the farthest I've shot. Putting a break on it to take it down and soot hits can't wait to test it on elk this fall.
