Hunting/Outdoor Shops in MT

Next week I’ll be roaming around Montana and was wondering if anyone has some recommendations on must stop hunting shops or neat outdoor stores.

Cool gear, clothing, deals, lots of taxidermy, ect.


Any recommendations?

Schnee’s in Bozeman has some cool taxidermy (half Yukon moose, etc) and an old gun room. Lots of higher end gear.

Schnees in Bozeman, the sporting goods store in ennis, sports center in Lewistown has some nice mounts. Then you get to all the Scheels which has some neat things

The sports center in Lewistown has some great taxidermy. Not many deals to be had

Sportsman & Ski Haus, Kalispell. Been awhile since I have been in it, but when I was it was one cool place to spend some time. First $10,000 bicycle I had ever looked at. Store personal even let me sit on it and I am not a bicycle person. They had racks and racks of rifles from $400 to $8,000.

Hi-Country jerky just west of Lincoln. Cool country and what looks like one guy's lifetime of travel hunting on the wall. Jerky was good too, but I'm not a connoisseur. Traveling east/west on the interstate is kind of boring and 200 from Great Falls to Missoula is great.

As already stated Shedhorn in Ennis is a classic. I live here in town and regularly stop in. You won’t be disappointed!

Schnees has more than one store?

Yes to Hi Country. Sitka, Stone glacier, kennetrek, more have stores in Bozeman. Scheels in Billings or Great Falls.

RMEF is in Missoula just north of I-90. Pretty impressive mounts and displays there at the HQ.

Wild Sheep Foundation headquarters is in Bozeman. But I've not been in it, so no idea if it's worth a lot of time.

If stopping in Bozeman see if you can tour the Simms, now Revelyst(?) campus and see college kids in the factory tearing off Made in China labels and sewing on Made in Bozeman, MT

Wait someone will talk to you at the gun counter at Capital sports?

They're really friendly when you walk in at the front. But the gun counter sours me in thay place. Can't even say hi.
