Anyone ever hunted over there? My great grandmother was from Austria. And I find the hunting culture there to be really interesting.
Would love to book a trip in 27 or 28 for stag and boar.
I'm already starting to work on the language skills.

Checking the laws it seems I can bring a suppressed 6 UM. Not sure how much paperwork that'll require. Sounds like a problem for closer to the trip.

There any advice from people who have done it? Or who to book a hunt with? How bad was the cost of the total trip?

Not sure about the driven hunts. I'm all for it but where and how does an American even practice these shots? I know I've passed more running shots than I've taken. But a driven boar hunt would be a rush!

Seems everyone just skips to Alaska or Africa. But following a Jager around the alps or Bavarian forest seems epic!

I’ve been looking at this as well. Seems prices are high in Austria, compared to other areas/countries. Slovakia seems more reasonably priced for the common working man but I don’t think there are ibex there.

I got quoted $32,500 for an alpine ibex last year in Austria. Class I

Just a week ago I saw a alpine Chamois hunt in Austria priced at $10k

I lived and hunted in Germany right at three years.. the culture is amazing! Book a trip and don't look back.
Im not sure on the paperwork side of things as I lived there baught my rifles there. I did book a hunt in Scottland and just used the guides rifle.
The only way I could see being able to practice running shots would be trap skeet.
Over there they have targets on a cable system and also a a video shoot. Not sure where to find those things in America.
Driven hunts can either be amazing or extremely boring. I sat on few driven hunts, but I much preferred to be a dog handler/pusher.
Austrian hunts can get very expensive.
If you want to do a red stag or roebuck hunt I can give you the name of a guide in Scottland. They are actually a meat processor, so unfortunately they keep the meat but trophy is your. They are extremely cheap. I think it was like $400 a day for Roebuck and $600 for stag. Prices may have changed as last time I used them was in 2016..
