Hunting canceled due to Govt Shutdown

I was thinking more along the lines of, "if you drive a road that was built and/or maintaiuned by the Forrest Service, then you relied on government help to go hunting"
Oh dude. I'm not even going there. I agree, but wasn't going there at all. :)

ETA: There is a palpable nervous energy at my house right now. It's almost go-hunt-time. Last thing I'm going to do is let loose on the internet about what I really think about....well, anything at all. Save it for the game, so to speak.

Any other military bases that allow hunting could be effected. At least Colorado is getting in front of this to allow the hunters who drew those tags to get a refund and their points back.

If you have ever hunt PCMC you know how laughable this is, the rules to hunt there are a giant PIA anyhow. Not being able to access the front gate which is just a code till dang near sunrise and then drive 25-30 mph on the roads out there which definitely have cops patrolling on them to ticket you
Don't really care about the rules there, the point is Colorado DOW is making it right to those who drew a tag there and can't use it now.

Yeah nice that guys are getting their tags refunded, it’s just funny because you really don’t need anyone to do anything, open or close gates ect, out there, plus there is a fire station down there that is staffed 24:7 as well, it’s a lame excuse. Creepiest part of that area is that they eminent domained a bunch of ranches to make that place. Still a bunch of ranch houses in there that are in perfect condition still. I always wondered if they are using them something, really odd though. Beautiful area for sure

Weren't those roads (the ones the FS hasn't destroyed, paid for by the Public?

I'm a Public landowner.

How in hell are they going to "close the Forests"? If they're on paid leave, are they going to patrol them?

:ROFLMAO:

I wish they would try.

Valles Caldera isn’t a OIL hunt. I know people that have drawn it two or three times. Luck of the draw but with few tags and lots of applications it might as well be. I hope it doesn’t change to an OIL hunt like the Valle Vidal. I’ve hunted both places and prefer the VV.

Yes, and built by the Forrest Service aka "the government."

Unless you are going to get out there and cut some roads into 30 degree slopes, maybe do a little blasting and drainage work, like or not, you are in fact relying on the government's help to go hunting.

Riiiiight.
It's common knowledge there wasn't any hunting before FS roads

Pretty simple. Currently non maintained roads enter/travel at own risk.
