Hello, great people!

Been a ghost at this site for a while now, but thought I'd make a user, pck your brains and hope that you don't cut my head off.

Me and two hunting buddies are going to pull the trigger on a dream we have. Opening a hunting and hiking clothing store in our home country.
Since it is a lack of a pure quality focused store here (yes it is a small country), we we wanted to hop on that opportunity. Aswell as seperate us with with some brands that aren't represented

Our first thoughts included FirstLite and Kuiu, but they are direct to costumer, but we want some recommendations to try out in the same "sphere" in quality. Our gaze is now on:
Sitka (already sold in our country)
Pnuma (not sold in our country)
Stone Glacier (not sold in our country
Skre (not sold in our country) and in as a cheaper option.

If it was up to you, what would you choose? Or change?
Our country is a cold one, and solid colours is usually more popular. 65/35 split.
So we are testing gear and apperael of new brands through the winter and into late fall. Aming to open in August.

Any reply or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Sorry for bad English, it is not my first language

Great list, I would add First Lite. They used to be direct to consumer but now also sell in places like Scheels.

King’s camo also makes great stuff and usually is overlooked. I would add them.

Fjallraven is great as well, and may be a great option to add if you’re in Europe.

You sure about FirstLite? I'll send them an email tomorrow. We have Fjellraven, Sitka and a country wide brand. That way we have some familiar brands for the costumer, and they can "lend" their safety to the "new" brands. Only new brands might scare some, but with some safe that could compensate that feeling. "They sell X brand, so this new brand can't be bad?" - kind of thing.

King's are in for consideration then, thank you.

I want to add the country, but I am affraid some of the bigger companies snatch the brands before us. I know it is stupid, but think Canada/Alaska like climate.
No worries. I would focus on good products for the climate even if it means a greater spread of brands. If you carry the brand’s product, even at a smaller volume, it makes it easy to special order products that you don’t carry for a customer.

Solid 3L hard shells, quality synthetic and down mid layers, a good glove selection, etc.

Hunters seem more accepting of solid colors recently. That may open up to some other companies like Outdoor Research that offer com more neutral colors that may appeal to hunters but also bring in some non-hunter customers.

Yes, exactly. We are spliting our country's hunting season in to three mini season, and having the brands that perform best at different types of hunting shine where they are meant to. If you catched that train of thought? Sorry about the English.

Yes, some of our hiking gear will "cannibalise" the hunting segment. But that is a part of the plan to indirectly cut a bit on product costs.

I wish you guys the best. It’s great to bring quality new products to a virgin market. I enjoyed finding Salewa boots when they first came to the US.
Thank you, nice of you!

Yes, and I am hoping people will react the same way when we bring in Kenetrek here.

And I am crossing my fingers that the romours about FirstLite quiting the direct to costumer model is true!

I wish you guys the best! I can't add much beyond that, besides another vouch for Kings. Its possible that they do not perform quite as well as the high end stuff but it really fills a void for those looking for decent quality gear that isn't cripplingly expensive. As a lower middle class hunter who can't drop multiple thousands of dollars on gear, Kings has been great.

100% positive. I was at a Scheels (big box store here in the US, multiple locations across the nation) with my dad on Monday helping him pick out a new goose gun and walked right past the First Lite display.

I can say skree has been good to me and great warranty. I called them and told them I bought the pants used and would pay to have them fixed. They sent me a new pair. I ripped some pants and explained it was my fault and I should pay for the repair and again they sent me a new pair. I have large calvs, and there are the only pants. I don't have to buy 2 sizes up to not look like I'm wearing skinny jeans. Good luck with your new business.

Ok!! That's great! Hoping it is not a thing just with Scheels then. Is there more tird-party stores that has FirstLite? Man, if they have moved away from Direct to costumer, some difficult pieces has just been put in place.

Consider Born Primitive.
Allright, thanks a lot! They seem to have alot of solid colours aswell. We'll try it out. The frontier 2.0 looks like nice pair of pants, and they have mesh inside the hip-zipper, which for me personally is a nice touch.

That's a huge plus their way. When we look at a more mid to high end segment, we feel like the costumer service and all other aspect should match that philosophy.

Thanks a lot! Hoping we can capture the market a little bit!

Thanks alot! We are hoping that Skre could cover us there, as well as another brand that is familiar in our contry. We don't want to ostracize the anyone, but our goal is to give costumers the best brands within a given price range. This is to seperate us from all the other companies over here, that has a clear focus on having a huge product range and they only compete on prices within these brands. So we need to seperate us with some unknow brands, and thoose unknown brands has to hit the quality mark that the price reflects. We don't have the luxury to start with alot of brands, and the model we have created kind of rests on the fact that or product can "Not only talk the talk, but walk the walk".

But that being said, we have now ordered some pants and jackets from Kings. So they are on the radar, and might knock Skree out of to "rooster".

Lots of bow shops carry them as well. I’m sure you could figure something out with them being outside the US
