HUNT WARZ

I find it entertaining. I like hunting, I like competition.

I don't find it an affront to my ethics...season 1, there seemed to be little harvested, and the competition came down to shootouts in camp. I don't recall bad behavior or decisions made because of the competition.

Look at bass tournaments, schoolie tourneys, even fly-fishing now has head-to-head competitions - C&R of course - though there is still a loss after the fact. But how much different is it in concept - and who really benefits [hint: the sponsors and organizers]?
There are many organizations out there using coyote derby's and the associated competition/prize aspect of concentrated predator management [an argument FOR incentives to my mind] to outlaw organized hunts for predators - and they have been successful in getting laws against on the books.
For the same reason there is a post about Matt Rinella's opinion piece, there will likely be continued participation in this effort - even if it boils down to sponsors putting 'pro-team' members in them.
IMO, very little good can come from it in general - unless there is some short or long term REAL benefit to species management, habitat or conservation.

There used to be a show on that pitted competition shooting teams against one another - in simulated hunting situations; it was mildly interesting to watch and had some strategic in-play. Could it end with paper/3D targets instead?

Hard NO from me. It's one thing to do a friendly wager in camp for biggest, first or ugliest deer. It's another to commercialize it as a tournament. Competing against nature is enough for me.

Are people that desperate for attention? I suppose the answer to that question is obvious in this age.
It's another flock of morons trying to get attention despite their obvious mediocrity. Get a real job, and stop bastardizing the outdoors in every way imaginable. It's getting to where these media influencer types have twisted more good things into something awful than the pornography industry

I don't want my kids to grow up thinking hunting is a competition and you're only successful if you have the heaviest or most animals with the biggest racks. I feel this will only add to the number of people using public resources for the wrong reasons.

Watched 1 episode. Not for me. I can see how it could provide fodder for the anti hunting crowd but so does everything we do. I also am totally ok with predator contests. Call me a hypocrite.

I'll have to watch it before I comment . I'm not automatically against it.

Hard pass. I do enjoy watching some hunting shows, but this is a nope from me. Glad to see it's mule deer and elk. Hopefully they stay out west with this nonsense.

As much as I hunt, which is more than most, I do not watch ANY hunting shows. They just are not entertaining to me. This looks like an absolute redneck mega hit!
