Hoyt Helix Ultra Cam issues - bought in April and noticed serving issues on bottom cam (see photo)

Thinking it was a strong issue I upgraded to GAS strings and am seeing the start of the same thing after less than a month

Anyone know what is causing this/fix? Taking to pro shop when I can get the chance but wanted to check here as well.

Since it's in the same spot in short order I'd get a magnifying glass & find that sharp edge that's doing it to your serving! You should be able to file it! That would be my first thing to look at.

Thanks Paul! Will take a closer look. Hoping the shop and Hoyt will take care of me and fix if necessary

Those tight turns are tough on servings, but that one does look kinda roughed up, as stated maybe a burr in the track? If not gas probably has a warranty?

Going to have the shop that put it on take a look as soon as I can get up there. Seems more of a bow issue vs string considering same thing happened to the factory string. Hope to get it sorted out. Was curious if it was happening to others.

I doubt it is the cam. This happens plenty with string makers. The cam groove is only so big and if the size isn’t perfect the serving gets worn down and as it goes in and out of the cam track. Eventually it wears through.

You are also using the color that is one of thickest out there, neon green.

As a general rule if you by aftermarket strings, I would measure your factory ones in and around the cam tracks and have your new ones built to the same specs in circumference. Cam tracks and strings are not one size fits all.

Interesting point... but if that were the case why would it happen to factory string 3 months in?

My thought on the factory string is that the end loop was made to long and in doing so, made the circumference larger when served.

It is pretty rare to have a bur on the cam track in this area of the cam that would do this. I am sure it happens, it is just not very often.

Is it in a place where your string stop is rubbing against the serving when you draw your bow? I am not too familiar with the newest Hoyts, but from your picture it looks like it could be a possibility. I have seen that happen on other bows before.
