I’m in a bit of a conundrum with the Timney.

Trigger functions fine attached to barreled action.

When I put action in stock, trigger won’t fire and the safety selector is stuck. I’m trying to eliminate where the issue is coming from. You mentioned you had to remove some of the bottom plastic? I’ve tried to relieve the stock but I don’t think that’s where the issue is coming from.

Will it fire if you place the barreled action in the stock without bottom metal and action screws (just holding in place)?

Yeah, I used a marker on the trigger and body then inserted the action into the stock and factory bottom plastic.

It wasn't that much in the end, a bit of work with only a file here and there to get the clearances needed where the marker transfered over.

I tell you what, it took me a while to figure out it was the bottom plastic 😅

That’s definitely not the first place I’d suspect either!

IMG_5596.jpegWatched video of the fella who cut down a 6.5 Grendel mag to fit more flush and hold 4+1. Figured I’d do that for my wife’s rifle.

Before I got there, I want to be able to load 77 TMK’s long. This gun has them on the lands at 2.45”.

5 cartridges at 2.4” fits perfectly flush with front of mag. I can probably get 27g of lever in there at that length. My guess is something like 2750-2780 out of 16” barrel.

*note - I don’t have a ton of experience reloading. Don’t take advice, just take data from me.

She could care less about this - she’s shooting close to MOA with AAC 77TMK after being behind gun on a bench for 40-50 rounds. But I’m having fun.

Going to pick up DIP bottom metal. Does anyone know if the new 2024 version comes with the mag release?

I’ll put pictures up once I cut the mag down to hold 5 too.

Anyone put a new, quality barrel on their Howa Mini? What were the results?

I’m thinking a new barrel will make this rifle really shine.

Done a 18” 6 ARC and 16” .22 ARC. Both from Preferred Barrels. Either gun makes hits out to 800+ no prob. Love em both.

Going to put together a mini in 6 arc for the kids. Picked the suppressor up today that will be dedicated to this gun. My plan is to shorten the LOP on the factory stock and cut the barrel down to 17”.

My question is about the barrel size. Would you rather have the sporter barrel or heavy in 17”. How much weight difference is there between the two at that length.

I’ll probably end up getting a Stockys VG2 so I can swap the stock around if my wife or I decide to take it on a hunt.

Go sporter, no need for the weight, short barrels are inherently stiffer.

On the DIP bottom metal - from my understanding it does not come with a mag release. But I’ll know soon enough because I ordered one on Monday - noticed my bottom metal cracked at the action screw - and this was my 2nd one to do that.

I agree with @hereinaz and I don’t feel like the sporter is too thin a profile. Plus the shorter barrel will lose some of that thin profile at the end as it’s shortened. I planned to do the same but ended up just leaving the barrel alone and adding an adapter to get the thread size I needed.
