How do I remove old epoxy from HIT inserts?

I wrecked some shafts, but would like to salvage these expensive Iron Will stainless steel inserts. The epoxy has the outside smooth, and I’d like to try to remove it so I can glue them back into new shafts. Ideas?

Use some sandpaper to remove enough to fit into an arrow. The scuffing of the sandpaper should be enough to allow new epoxy to grab on to the insert and set in.

Maybe putting one end of the insert into a drill, spin it while pinching with sandpaper.

The acetone will do it. I salvage my inserts by removing them with heat and then soaking them in acetone for a day. The epoxy comes right off after that.

Thanks all. Maybe my acetone is old and not as potent, but it took several days. Anyway, with the acetone, along with some sandpaper and wire brush, the inserts are like new.

If that happens again, chuck up a machine screw or field point, heat the insert and wipe with steel wool while its hot.
