How to get your peak refuel for free (kinda)

Not sure if this qualifies as a "deal" or a hack etc. But fedex just dropped off a box of peak refuel, mountain house, and backpackers pantry stuff from sierra and it cost me $0.60 out of pocket and figured I would share with RS. A while back I downloaded the capital one shopping app (it works kinda like active junky) but I recently just started really learning how to play the game. I order a lot of stuff online vs going to the store and if I do, I will typically go to the website and run the app on my computer and a lot of times it will give me 1-2% rewards back, but thats where the game starts, do NOT make the purchase. Typically if I wait a few days cap 1 shopping sends me an email with a significantly larger rewards offer and if you click through there and make your purchase you may up to 40% back (earlier this week I got 30% at vistaprint ordering giveaway pens for work). You don't need a cap 1 card to use it just the app, and the rewards are redeemable for gift cards at places like sierra (where I got my meals), REI, cabelas, scheels, eBay, and a lot of others. I use it through sams ordering diapers and things like that, every day items that I have to buy anyway are essentially buying hunting stuff.

They do give a referral link that gives both people $40 after trying it if interested shoot me a PM but I am not posting for that, just sharing a sweet deal.

I also play this game with capitol one. Mostly use it for my dogs food. But other things quite often to. Just got a large discount on new Sorrel slippers.

Then cash out when the rewards get high enough!

I get good rewards if I order through chewy. Petco somehow never has the ridiculously expensive food it takes to make one of mine not puke….but it’s good for them and id rather buy a sack of food that’s $30 more than clean dog sick

Good on you. I bought a Benelli montefeltro last year largely with points and cap one credits. I think it came out to about 500 bucks. overall, was a solid score.

Chewy is good, petco sometimes. Tractor Supply will often get me a big %. I feed Acana, and with the discounts it's usually cheaper then many other brands.

Excuse my laziness (not doing my own research).. but is there any benefit to also having a cap 1 card?
Not an added benefit at all. I started using it because it would try and auto apply coupon codes, and didn’t even have a cap 1 card. I do now but other than the regular cash back there’s no perks and you can’t redeem the cap 1 shopping points to your CC like you can the cash back

Can you share where the gift card came from in your payment? Is that how the Cap 1 rewards are given?

Yes you can cash in the rewards for gift cards at various places, in this case Sierra, but they also have scheels, REI, cabelas, etc.

Just snagged a Nemo sleeping bag off eBay using points off this. Cashed in enough to cover everything but tax/ship. Hope you guys that got the referral links are having good luck!

Just an example, I went to the seatosummit website to check an R value earlier and got this targeted email with better rewards

Dang thats awesome. I’ve gone through the app multiple times to gets the rewards back but I’ve never played the waiting game for the extra discount. Thanks for the tip!
