Obviously a new member here. Love the site. I rarely post anything on interweb, but transparently will here to get my creds, fair enough. I love hunting big game, almost as much as whitewater kayaking (which nobody will care about here), but brings me to my point.
i frequent a certain river runner’s forum, much smaller than this, and inevitably there have been foul mouthed, vicious trolls, some far worse than others. I appreciate moderators keeping things respectful, and if banning is necessary, so be it. I would caution against censoring quickly, as I’m sure they are here. I’ve seen some legends of s*** talking post some unbelievably entertaining and continuing threads, and although they can be brutal, mean, insensitive, etc. they are a part of the community, take the good with the bad.
I trust the good fellas here to be fair, and understand that the line must be drawn somewhere, but would hate to see censorship eliminate a non-productive weekend evening spent reading heated arguments amongst a few over imbibed know-alls. This stuff can be pure gold.
ive found that usually, especially in a community of this size, the unruly s*** talkers are eventually put in their place by the community at large. For what it’s worth.
again, I’ll let the bosses do as they see fit, but sometimes it’s nice to see the D-bags dig their own hole and get buried.

In regards to getting banned........this made me think of a job I took several years ago. Right before I started, a guy in one of my divisions had been busted for viewing porn on the govt computer at work. So there I am in a meeting with my boss and a few other department heads discussing this matter. And my boss says "Yep, looking at porn on the govt computer always comes with a mandatory 2 week unpaid vacation".

Well, there I am brand new with absolutely no vacation time on the books and September was coming up. So, my boss knowing that I'm an elk bow hunting fanatic, I ask him......."How quickly after the offense does that vacation kick in......and is the timing of that vacation negotiable?" I was only half joking.

Sorry - I'll let it go. I was just disappointed to wake up to see how it transpired overnight, only to find it gone. Us east coasters are at a disadvantage you know, having to hit the rack earlier than the west coasties...

You're not the first to think of this. Back in the 90's, I somehow got volunteered to be on the Union committee. One of my first representations went like this.

I get pulled into a room with Union steward and disgruntled employee who says, "They won't give me my 3 days off, I earned it". " I want to file a grievance".
Wait.. What??? Yeah he says, "I just got step 3 of the attendance policy and I get 3 days off, they wrote me up, but won't give me them to me".

Incredible, this was becoming a thing, and the company adjusted their policy.

Reminds me of a situation back in the mid-nineties, I managed a business for a local government that only had one computer. This was the early days of the internet. I was on the computer and looking through search history trying to find something from the day before. The search history was covered in a very specific type of fetish porn. It was easy to identify who it was, since only one person had access to the computer at that time. Unfortunately, that person was a good friend and my hunting partner. I sat him down and told him he couldn't do that on the government computer on government time. And that any further issues would lead to dismissal.

He made it a few days before he was back doing the same thing. So, I called him into my office and fired him. His response was "Well, I will have a lot more time for hunting now.". We remained friends and played golf together. But, I never went hunting with him after that. I figured I might end up as a hunting "accident" statistic.

Where I used to work, if they gave you "days" off or discipline they just took the days worth of pay from your paycheck but you had to keep working. They did it spread out over a certain amount of time so it was just a pay cut until it was paid off..

I will pile on here and say how much I appreciate everything this forum is. There are so many other places to go if you want to scream politics or profanity or whatever else and so few places where there is actually good information exchange.
