How often do you use your spotting scope

I hunt west and eastern WA, along with Idaho. I run razor 10x42s on a tripod, and a razor 20-60x80 spotter. It’s always with me in Idaho for sure, about 50% of the time in eastern WA, just because some of my area is good for it, and others are timbered. Rarely on the west side unless I’m getting phoneskope pics or scouting. I wouldn’t say it’s a necessity, but I have spotted multiple deer far away that we were able to make a stalk on. I could see them with the binos, but some at the distance I couldn’t make horns. It’s definitely nice for detail of the animal, as to whether you do or don’t want to go after it. Hope it helps.

I think it depends on what you are looking for . If your trophy hunting and won’t kill an elk under 350....bring a spotter.....If your just wanting to kill any bull leave them home.

I don't do open country hunting like out west, but here in the southeast for white tail I haven't touched my spotting scope since I got my 15x56 SLCs.
