How many states do you apply in?

WY,AZ,OR,NV,UT,CO,NM for elk — all seasons and weapon types to extend my season should I ever draw two in the same year.

I typically just hunt my home state of Oregon on an archery tag.

I hunting Id. as that is my home state. Will be putting in for MT for the first time as I was born and raised there.

UT, AZ, NM, CO, WY and lottery tickets at the expo.

I’d be shocked if all of our lists don’t get cut in half within the next decade with worsening prices and difficulty to draw. I know a lot of people who once they draw the tag they’ve been chasing in a certain state, they’re out. Some have just left their points on the table but not a lot.

I know the Covid boom is waning in most places already

I get a good tag at home every year. I also apply in 3-4 other states for OIL tags. Haven’t gotten drawn yet for any good elk tags in other states but have done some fun OTC hunts.

6 western states only hunted in 3 so far, hopefully will make it a 4th this year.

For elk I do Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, Utah, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and if I happen to have picked up an Idaho tag for the year already I’ll apply in their draw. I pass on Idaho otherwise.

Fairly certain I’ll never draw anything east of the Mississippi but I’d love to hunt an elk in the Appalachian mountains at some point in my life so I keep swinging for them.

For elk just here in Montana. But I'm building points for SoDak whitetail since our WT hunting sucks lately.

Only been applying out of state for a couple years. NM resident and NR applications in AZ, CO, WY and UT. Not sure my UT applications are worth it. No way I'm wasting my money chasing NV. Hopefully ID changes their system for NR.

Application season is upon us. How many states you guys submitting apps in?

Personally, I’m in for three MT, AZ, NM
All. If they have an elk season, I apply. If the are thinking of having an elk season, I watch them like a wolf waiting to submit an application.

Just NM since I'm a resident and know there are a few hunts I can apply for that will all but guarantee at least a deer and/or a cow elk hunt every year. Don't think management (the Mrs.) would appreciate me using even more of my vacation time for hunting than I already do since we also like to travel a lot outside of hunting season.
