How many of you like a really good knife?

I always have a fixed blade knife with me. I also have a Havalon in my pack. Fixed blade is a D.H. Russell Canadian belt knife made by Grohmann with a rosewood handle. I've been carrying this knife for years and love the thing. Holds an edge very well and the shape is conducive to just about everything.

My buddy Don found two Herter's skinning knives at an estate sale the other day and bought both of them. He then had a friend of his make sheaths for them. Don just gave me one of them for Christmas!! I'm happy and cannot wait to try it out. There were some marks on the blade so I tried to sand those down as best as I could and I refinished the wood handle by sanding it down and then giving it about 10 coats of Tru Oil. I think it looks pretty darn sharp. The sheaths this guy made are just fantastic also.

From what I can tell, these knives are from about 1960 or thereabouts.

I also really like both of these. Could not get them to load before. The two knives are Ruana Steelhead models. The folding knife is an Uncle Henry Schrade knife made in the USA.

one of my favorite childhood memories , the herters catalogs my dad used to get circa late 1950's to early 1960's. now that i think back this could have started my addiction as a gear head.....

I guess I am like Luke and never learned to appreciate knives but would like a nice "camp" knife to compliment my Havalon.
Last night I was reading Kifaru forum and they were talking about how nice the Mora knives are for the price. I know the knives you guys are talking about are much higher end but what's everyone's thoughts or opinions on these Mora knives. I like the price of them.

Mora knives have a very good reputation for no-nonsense, no frills, inexpensively priced knives. I don't have any personal experience with them, but have read some very good reviews. I tend to prefer a knife made in the USA, and of a higher quality steel, but you can't go wrong with Mora.

Some really nice knives guys. I still use me KOA and the havalon. I have some older folders that I got as a gift as a kid but saving them to give a grandson should I get one. Bob.
