I want to shoot the upcoming Total Archery challenge and be sufficiently accurate out to 120 so I’m not just launching arrows into the trees. I can only shoot to about 70 in my yard so I’m searching for a spot to shoot beyond that. Also shooting steep uphill and down hill to get my 3rd axis dialed. I’m having a lot of fun doing it tho.
I rarely shoot under 50, basically only to check my marks. In summer when I am dialed most shooting is at 60, after that I walk the field course and shoot single arrows at each bale, from 55 to 80 or so.
Then practice at 100 often when I am dialed and the wind isn't rippin!
I like to practice and hang out shooting at the furthest distance I can hit tight groups but still be challenged. With my hunting rig, sometimes its 55 yards, sometimes its 70. Usually beyond 70 my groups get a little too big for comfort. Making good shots with a little bit of a challenge and seeing good results helps boost the confidence in my bow and setup and in my own shot process.
