How many binoculars do you own/use?

I’d love to see 12x NLs next to the 15s - I feel like there’s times the extra power made all the difference in seeing something that I maybe would have missed with less power but so many guys are ditching 15s for NLs.

I’m also surprised no one has mentioned the BTX system…..it’s got me real intrigued as next on my list.

Have had the 10x42 Viper HD for a few years and just made the leap to alpha glass. 8x42 NL should arrive this week. Feel like the 8s will be better in timber for whitetail and pair well for elk with 18s on a tripod. Still sorting out a spotter.

Scouting and finding game from the truck the 12s and BTX are the bomb.

Deer hunting. Im bringing 8s, 12s and either the kowa or BTX depending on terrain and how far im walking. Backpacking is when I trade the sleep system for the BTX.

Elk hunting. 8s and BTX or when Ive found them and Im going in, just 8s.

Antelope, BTX, 12s and 8s.

Small game 8s.

I used to just run the 12s and kowa and it was an excellent combo. But day after day bombing up steeps I was not sufficiently stable handholding the 12s, and the 8s are truly a better system for glassing on the move, spot checking, still hunting and the balllistic solution is obviously an excellent addition to the system. The 12s are too damn good to get rid of on the tripod and the BTX is a tomorrow-game finding peice of alien technology. My pocket book and former travel plans have been irrepairably damaged but I spot the sh*t out of game.

7x32 Nikon Monarchs , 8.5x42 Swaro ELs , 10x42 Steiner Predators.
Bought the Steiners in 2003/4 as an all purpose bino. They are now used as a loaner and a spare.

Bought the EL’s in 2005 as an upgrade. I use these EL’s for all my hunting. These are likely my favorite piece of gear.

Bought the Monarchs as a woods binos on a whim. Used them on one hunt. Switched back to the EL’s.
They now loaner binos. Usually for a kid in camp that needs a pair when hunting with his dad.

I expect I will make the mistake of looking thru a newer set of Swaros some day and make a upgrade.
its my way. But 15-18 years highly satisfied use out of a piece of gear is unusual for me

I've owned as many as 7 pairs at one time. Now it's just three. One "cheap" pair of Bushnell Legends for the backyard bird feeder, my 8x32 Conquest HD's as my "all around" binocular, and a pair of 10x42 Cabelas Euro HD's as my truck bins. Covers all my needs.

Zeiss Victory 8x42s in a chest harness.

Diamondback 10x42s as beaters for the truck/boat/snowmobile. This is about the only application where I'll say it's worth having vortex gear for the warranty.

I prefer 8s to 10s if I'm not glassing entirely off a tripod or bracing off a vehicle.

I really don't enjoy using a spotting scope for long periods. I have a feeling I'll ultimately end up getting a big set of 15x binos to replace a spotting scope and compliment the 8x.

I own quite a few. I am heavily myopic 20-450 is my vision. So I need to wear my glasses and I need 20mm worth of eye relief.

There are some others, but these are the main players.

Used to own Swarovski EL 12x50 and 8.5x42, 12x56 Nikon, 8.5x56 Nikons, 8x32 Canon and a few more.

This is what I know.

I like 10x56 a lot, but they are a skosh short on eye relief.

I like 8x56 a lot.

8.5x42 and 8x42 is pretty good especially in higher quality models.

10x40 is unusable by me.

10x32 and 8x32 are totally unusable.

I see no value in 12x50 or 12x56 as a western hunter. Spotting scope is where it is at.

...BUT the Swaro 12x50s rarely make it into my bino harness. 99% of the time is the 10x42 Noctivids.

I have razor uhd 10's I run in my chest rig and maven 15's in the pack for once I get to the glassin knob. Sometimes I will reverse this if I'm just hiking straight to the knob and will only put the 10's on if I'm going on a stalk.
I don't hunt coues, just Muley's, so haven't ever found the need to carry a spotter or anything else more powerful.

Burris Droptine 8x42 as my truck binocular, Leica Geovid hd-b 2200 for my main binocular, and Maven C.1 8x42 for my backup or brush busting binocular.

I usually only use my 10x42 Tract Toric for hunting. They are a little lighter than the 12.5x50s and more compact. I use 12.5x50 Tract Toric for looking at wildlife in my house or at places like Yellowstone. My Nikons Monarch 7s are for extra binoculars for other people.
