I’m the only one in my family to have ever killed a 300” bull. He grossed 319, net 310. 7 year old Utah public land bull. We have multiple amongst us in the 280-290 range, and one that went 297 gross. All but one are 6 point herd bulls that were killed with rifles out of herds with multiple cows, the largest herd being a herd of about 40 cows and calves with my younger Brother’s bull last year, and his bull grosses 275.

Modern social media makes it seem like everyone is killing 300” bulls, or there’s a 350” bull behind every tree. But honestly, 300” of bone is a lot of antler, and I would bet most instafamous hunters would see a 280 and swear he was 320.

My personal biggest is 250ish 5x5 but I’ve helped with four over 300”. Two on private land in Montana and two in Arizona. But the vast majority of my elk are cows and rags.

Only time I measured my biggest I got 299. Never taped it again as I thought being that close to 300 was pretty funny. He’s a darn nice bull, only thing that kept him out of the 3’s was a really narrow inside spread

I’ve killed 2 over 300”, both in the last few years. I did pass up quite a few smaller bulls looking for a big one last year. I see quite a few in that 285” range. My goal is a 360”+ so the hunt continues. 357” and 329” below.

So far 1 bull over 300, I agree it’s bigger than most people like to think… lots of 6x’s won’t hit that mark

I only have 5, but like others a garage full of 280 6 points :)

Now that I live in WY they should pile up fast. If you can't kill a 300" bull as a WY resident, you're not putting out a lot of effort.
