How is inflation affecting you?

I'm in the mortgage and auto lending business. People are spending an absolute ton of money right now and it doesn't appear to be slowing down. I felt like I would be repo'ing a bunch of stuff, but that hasn't been the case. The folks who still hold good jobs and have high credit scores are doing the most spending, taking advantage of the low rates. As for myself, I'm eating chicken or deer and vegetables almost every meal. No going out to eat. I just bought an 01' Cherokee from a buddy to keep the miles off the Tundra and away from the gas pump.

Raised my rates at work and my wife and I have started to trim off most of the unnecessary costs in our lives. But since I’ve become self employed it really changed my entire perspective on money, turned me into an extremely frugal person, waste drives me nuts anymore. But it’s working out ok, a little more debt to squash and I will be a happy camper. I really hope WW3 doesn’t start with that evil prick in Russia and cause even more problems for us all.

I'm doing fine financially, but I'm putting less money back Into savings. Inflation is a big problem, and we have yet to see the worst of it, or its effects.

I am the sole provider and make decent money but it's getting rough. Spending $80 at the pump and $$$ at the grocery store is adding up. I paid $3.27 for heating oil earlier this week because I only see it going up from here.

We purchased our house, a modest rancher, 6 years ago for 140 and today I could sell it in a day for 285k cash in hand. That is not a joke. I feel bad for folks trying to buy homes right now.

I am more concerned about the current events in Ukraine than I am about inflation. If I were you guys, and your finances allowed it, I would be well stocked on the foods you eat and have some fuel on hand. This situation could go sideways in a way that would have us thinking fondly of when inflation was our biggest problem.

My money buys less food, gas, bullets, lumber, basically everything. Currently building a house. Luckily we signed a contract and locked in a price before everything shot up in price.

Gotta laugh in times like this and get your news from legitimate a source. Like jpsears

Between gas and groceries it impacts everybody. Even if you live within your means, you are still impacted. Just isn’t going to be devastating. We were energy independent before biden took office and decided to shut it all down and start importing from Russia. Would be real easy to turn it all back on and give us some relief at the pump. I am in Tennessee right now and diesel went up $0.45/gallon between yesterday and today. Its ridiculous and doesnt have to be this way.

Hour and a half commute 135 miles round trip each day. Makes me sick spending $175 a week in gas just for work not counting anything else ...

Stable or not this is gonna impact us all. I'm debt free, paid for home, vehicles and make decent money.

Regardless if you make 20k a year or 250k a year this is affecting everyone and everything if you are at all involved in any trade or business.

Cost of animal feed has increased drastically in my area, groceries have doubled for meat prices, thankfully I don't buy any of that but the fruits we do buy and grains have all increased as well.

The traffic isn’t getting less, especially up to the mountains to ski. People find a way.

Yea, its called credit card debt.
Or it hasn't hit that hard...yet. If you bought everything before the rise, you really haven't felt the major affect yet. The stuff that is up drastically are housing, fuel and vehicles. If you were able to refinance your house to high 2s interest rates, you feel rich right now. If you don't need a new vehicle, it doesn't affect you. That eliminates 66% of the stuff that is up drastically at the moment. It will take sometime before it really hits most people.

Diesel is up to $4.09 per gallon where I am at, and my truck is my daily driver. Luckily, I have a short commute. Been looking to buy an SUV for the wife so that I can drive her car for work, but the used car market is insane.

Definitely seeing it at work. Bidding projects has been tough. For instance 8" PVC pipe for your average city sewer project was 3.00 a foot two years ago, last year it jumped to 6.50 a foot, now it's over 11 bucks a foot. Insane!! Problem is when bids are submitted to municipalities they just throw out the project cause not enough funding. Not good for citizens paying taxes and contractors doing work.

I'm pretty bad at cosuming goods, so it doesn't affect me like a family with kids or something. I notice the gas price the most, but luckily drive a Honda Fit as daily driver, so a 25% increase in energy prices is about 8$ a tank at this pt. I would make a strong case for gas being $5+/gallon by summer, so it ain't over yet.
