How does my pack fit?

This is a pic Kuiu Pro Pack in x-tall frame. Pic is with 40 lbs in the pack. The tall frame is 2” shorter than this pic. Thoughts on whether this pack is the right one or if a tall (2” shorter) would be better or as good? I’d prefer the tall for a couple of reasons, but not if it would be too short. Thoughts?

Much depends on the adjustment range left which isn’t visible in the pics. Are you already bottomed out or is there room to adjust straps up and down? As for fit the few things I can glean from your photo:
- some strap lifting/twisting along your shoulder blades which can be corrected with pivoting the strap anchor points at the Velcro connection
- load lifters look too tight
- straps may be a bit snug, is your hip belt taking the pack weight and transferring well? Looks like you could be splitting The weight with the straps but hard to tell in this photo.

Hip belt is taking the majority of the weight. Could probably change that even more. Didn’t notice the strap twist until you pointed it out. Thanks. I’ll adjust that. I’ll mess with the load lifters as well. What about the frame height? Look correct or could it be 2” shorter and be good as well?

To me the frame height looks a little long- but I don’t think it’s 2” too long.

best way to find out is to get an 80lb bagof concrete and walk about 1 mile in each frame. It won’t take too much time to see which one feels better.

If heavy weight is not what you anticipate having to carry then 2” less on the frame won’t have a huge effect on weight carrying performance.

The middle of the hip belt should rest on your iliac crest. To me it looks like you may be below that but it is very hard to tell from a picture, you should be able to discern that information yourself thou.

Thanks for the replies. So my iliac crest is probably 1/2-1/3 of the way up (from the bottom) in to the waist belt. Are you saying the bottom of the waist belt is supposed to ride on the top of my iliac crest? Also...I agree that the frame looks a hair tall. I have 40 lbs in the pack in that pic. 80 would be the max I ever see myself carrying. I’m getting too old for more :) Here’s a pic with no weight in the pack.

I run the Kuiu Pro also. I prefer the top of my frame to be about even with my ears when loaded at about 40ish lbs. This allows plenty of load lift when loaded heavy without the stays sticking up too high with hunting wt. You will get a lot of opinions on belt placement, and all are probably correct for the person giving the opinion. You will need to find the location that works best for you. Some like their belt really high. I have found that I prefer the belt to ride a little lower with the new Pro belt vs the older Icon Pro belt From the photo, it looks ok.
