How do you leave your truck when backpacking?

I had a cooler of food stolen on my first day in Az. a couple years ago, had some backpacking food to get me through a few days then had to drive 2hrs to restock and use my back up cooler that was locked in the truck, the stolen cooler was at a campsite for only a few hours, the scumbags stole my water supply too!

I have hunted a lot of states and that is the only thing ever taken luckily.
