I'm more than likely hosed. I did the things I thought I should do, not using f&f, looked at the posters past, etc. But at the beginning of the year, I bought a Leupold scope. Just now got around to mounting it and found out it's a counterfeit. Do you think PayPal will refund me given its a firearm accessory? I can't find any trace of my messages with this jerk off in my history. Any idea how I do that?

Doesn’t show up in sent box? Check your PayPal history to see the transaction. It should have details in it as far as name, address, email etc.

Oh I read that wrong!

Paypal doesn't forbid optics as far as I am aware, just actual firearms parts, if he won't make things right then I'd hit them up if its not too late

Yes, did not use f and f, but wasn't sure if they'd deny a claim since it's a scope? I found my messages with him. Looks like there are articles on the internet about him, and his email gives me a good idea of how to track him down. I messaged him, so we'll see if or how he handles this I guess. He is real active on classifieds.

Ok, update, guy responded already. Sounds like he was duped too. I'll update if it goes south

Have a guy around here that sales those damn things. Went to a gun show with us this past year and was pedaling those things. I didn't care for it at all. Bout doped me once. luckily I figured it out before I bought one.

I called in the serial number, and the number is real, but it is for a different model of scope.

'the guy' checking in. I sent the scope in for warranty repair before I sold it. Came back clean, and they didn't say anything about it being counterfeit. Currently on hold with leupold.

Didn't want to out anybody until I knew I was screwed. Panicked at first trying to sort this out as I had to beg forgiveness for this purchase and my wife WILL kill me if I got hosed. Honestly wish I could delete the thread. The guy has been totally cool and seems just as concerned as I am.

Op how do you know it's a fake? cubdriver84d, good on you for coming on here and owning up. I can't imagine Leupold would repair a scope that wasn't theirs (Counterfeit), and returning it to you without a charge- If they even returned it at all. I can't wait to hear what Leupold tells you.

When it was mounted, two gunsmiths tried and could not get it closer than a foot low at 100. They said everything else checked out and I should call Leupold to see if it was fake. Called Leupold and they said it was a real serial number, but it was for a different model. If I had to guess, the guy got a fake Leupold. Had an issue and sent to Leupold. Leupold validated the serial number, but didn't think to make sure it was the right model. Checked it out and returned to the guy, who later, totally believing it to be legit, sells to me.

Makes me impressed with the counterfeit, but pissed at Leupold at this point. If this holds out, they were part and parcel to duping two people.

Yeah I saw some VXII on eBay for like $90 new. Shipped from China, I reported the item as counterfeit, they are close but a google search will show you a few of the things to look for, as far as etching colors, lettering styles etc
