I've been shooting the Barnes 250 TEZ in my CVA with 110g of BH209 but am getting tired of ordering them since they are really hard to find locally. Locally a shop has the Monoflex ML from Hornady. Its 250 grains and is a mono just like the Barnes. I have shot a couple that a buddy gave to try and they shoot nearly the same as the Barnes.

I will be only deer hunting and shots will be 150yd max with a majority of shots being within 100yds.

Does anybody have experience with the Monoflex?
Anybody have experience with both the Barnes and Hornady?

Or should I stick to the Barnes? I've only killed a couple deer with a muzzleloader so still learning what's gonna work best for me without buying a ton of bullets and stuff.

I am hoping I can tell you after tomorrow. I had been shooting the Barnes 225 grain Xpb with 110 gr Blackhorn. The heavier monoflex must generate higher pressure as my shots were striking about 2 inches higher on the target.

Never found one. Always punched through. Usually 50 yard shots

Shot an antlerless deer with the .458 monoflex this morning. 40 yard shot. Complete pass through. It did leave a decent exit hole at least an 1" in diameter. 110 gr of Blackhorn.

I have a few friends who use them, they have been very accurate and deadly on antelope and mule deer.

My CVA and my wife’s love the Barnes and I won’t switch. They are the most accurate and they hit like a freight that train. Plus I hunt a special state park hunt here in Minnesota and non-toxic is required.
