Hornady 340gr .50cal ELD-X Bore Driver

Is there a consensus on these bullets now or more testing of terminal performance comparing them to other, competing offerings? Particularly interested in terminal performance of these vs the 290 BD FTX vs. 300 Thor Hammers. If there's a repository of testing somewhere, I'm happy to be given the link to go study.

Use case is deer and elk. I'm sure they make a fine deer bullet, so I'm more concerned about whether they can double as an elk bullet.

Thanks.

Harvested two elk with this bullet this year. Great results overall both shots around 170. They also fly incredibly well at extreme ranges. Haven’t tried them in a CVA paramount but my guess is they won’t fit.

What was your specific set up? I've shot these out of my CVA Accura V2 with 100 gr volume of Black MZ, roughly 1500 fps, and they shot amazing for accuracy but I need some assurance they will perform terminally for elk. Thanks

I was shooting 2150 FPS with a Remington ultimate max charge of 209. I used to shoot a knight disc around 1700 fps but didn’t take any game with it. Sorry to not be more help! Overall I’ve been impressed and the BC seems dead on too dialing with the Revic sight. I would put them in the Hornady ballistic app and see what kind of energy you have based on where you hunt.

Thanks, the ballistics show 951 ftlbs at 200 yards. Maybe I’ll bump the powder charge some and if accuracy holds. As expensive as they are, it’s tough to experiment too much. I sighted 2 guns in with 11 rounds.

You came to the exact wrong place for any consensus, on anything, ever.
No disrespect to you. I wish it wasn't true, but it is. I hope you are able to find what works for you.
