Hooded grid fleece

I currently have an ECWCS grid fleece. I love it for the warmth it provides considering how thin it is. The only thing I wish it had was a hood. What are my options for a hooded grid fleece (not the First Lite Klamath)? I don't really care if it's a hunting brand or not. Earth tone solid or camo is fine.

North face borod hoodie (own and like), patagonia R1 ( have the unhooded and love it), badlands flex hoodie (own and it's just ok, but like the camo pattern), outdoor research vigor, eddie bauer grid and sandstone grid. I'm sure there are more but these are the ones I've researched in the past. Actually considering picking up a cheap Condor or military one that I'm not afraid to ruin.

I am a fan of grid fleece. Still love one from first lite. I had a Sitka fanatic hoodie that I liked but some are not fans of the mitten/cuffs. My favorite is the Patagonia R1.

These hooded grid fleece are awesome! Handmade in Leadville, CO. Currently running through a lottery system due to covid but I don’t think you’d be dissatisfied with one.

I really like and use a couple KUIU full zip Peloton 240 hoodies. Nice pockets, snug sleeves that don’t interfere with the bowstring, hood that fits perfectly and cuts the wind decently.

They come in 3 camo colors and some solids. The oldest one is going on 4 seasons of use with a lot of hunting plus hiking and cross country skiing. Still going strong. Note that catclaw (briars) will snag the fabric and pull threads out. Good luck!

Stone Glacier Helio hoody, I’m actually wearing mine now.

I’m a big fan of the Sitka fanatic and heavyweight hoody, but after receiving the SG Helio, its for sure my new favorite and I will be ordering another.

If you need a size reference, I’m 6.00’, 180lbs with long arms. A large fits perfect.

Wish I would have known that months ago, I've been wanting to try their grid fleece for years but their store is pretty far away. Thanks for the heads up!

What do you like about it better than the Sitka heavyweight? Looking at both of these and I liked how the Sitka zipped up over the nose. Thanks!

It has a softer feel and an overall better fit with longer arms. The grid fleece is smaller/tighter, if that makes sense, so it feels like it moves with you more freely. The fanatic is a heavier fleece overall. Here is a pic of the two, side by side for comparison.

I do like the hood fit on the fanatic the best. It’s the most form fitting and the built in face mask is nice. The zipper on the heavyweight bugs me, since it’s either above or below your nose so I rarely use the hood fully zipped.

For everyday use, early season, and hiking, the Helio is my new favorite. Stationary hunting/activity, the fanatic is hard to beat.

I've tried a bunch and always go back to the patagonia R1. Mainly because I like the hood fit on it the best.

All mentioned are solid choices along with eh Sitka Heavyweight hoody.
I have the FL Klamath, Sitka Fanatic, had a newer SG helio hoody, and have the Patagonia R1 tech face. The SG helio did fit well, but the FL and Sitka both have a better stretch, loft, and hand feel to me. SG Helio and Patagonia R1 are a light midweight grid fleece vs the Sitka and FL. I would consider Klamath and Fanatic heavier weight and both have more loft to the grid vs SG. I wouldn’t hesitate to wear the Helio though it's very nice. Patagonia R1 is also a solid choice. The tech face I have is like the regular R1 with a tighter face fabric with dwr. It’s really nice but not as quiet.
The Klamath has my favorite fit and feel. If Sitka would make the Fanatic hoody without those goofy sleeves, keep the kangaroo pocket and ninja hood in different solid and camo options it would be tops. Or FL can give the Klamath the Kangaroo pocket.
