I just stopped by the Hoffman Boots shop and picked up a new pair of hikers for testing. I wanted something lightweight with good grip and support. Jim Hoffman recommended their new 6" Scout. Initially, they feel comfortable and light. I plan to wear them for the next week and a half and will post my thoughts when I get back from bear camp and then throughout the year. Let me know if you have any questions about them.

Do you have experience with Lapponia’s and could you compare at all? Wanting a 6” boot and was thinking about the new Lapponia light but these look pretty sweet as well.

These look awesome would love to hear how they compare to the explorer. Thank you.
I haven't worn the Explorer, so I can't say.

I haven't worn the Lapponia boots, so I can't compare them to the Hoffman Scout.

Yesterday was a full day of shooting the NRL Hunter Sheep Mountain Shootout, and my feet were comfortable all day. Today will be more shooting on the mountain and then I head to Idaho for a week of bear hunting. I'll report back when I'm home from that trip how these are doing.

Quick update,

I wore these for the two-day NRL Hunter match in Cody, Wyoming. The match involves hiking from stage to stage with a backpack and rifle. My feet were comfortable the whole time, and the grip was really good. The tread is a bit on the narrow side, which makes it easier to roll an ankle if you're prone to that.

After the match, I drove to Idaho Sunday night for a week of bear hunting. I wore the boots each day, did some light hiking, and fished along the river one afternoon. I was even carefully wading into the water and the boots didn't leak at all.

On Tuesday, I packed all the meat from a good-sized bear through thick, wet brush and a creek bottom, and the boots worked well. The rest of the week was spent hiking to and from different bait sites to add bait and check cameras.

My only complaint so far is when I'm going up a really steep hill, I get pinching behind my toes on the top. It's mostly only on the left boot, so I think it will likely go away with more use and break-in.

I'm looking forward to more hiking and scouting trips and will continue updating this thread.
