Relatively new hunter here just got back into it after a 20 year long hiatus and hunted D16 in Socal this year.(very tough zone)

This rifle was gifted to me about 20 years ago and is my only "hunting rifle" chambered in a 30-06 i have 3 5 and 10 round magazines for it. Overall this rifle works flawlessly barely kicks for a 30-06 and is an interesting rifle to have around, but I have a few concerns and looking for advice.

Collectors item or practical hunting rifle, given the rarity of the rifle I wonder if it might be best to keep it stored and not knock it around in the woods I am fairly hard on my gear.

Weight, I haven't weighed the rifle yet but its a bear to carry around in the woods compared to what I can imagine a lighter Tikka might be.

Accuracy, my biggest concern here is the proven accuracy of the rifle I am a relatively inexperienced long range shooter(looking to work on that) but now that I'm out west and not in Texas 100 plus yard shots seem to be the norm. Rifle has a 2.5-10x44? Vortex viper on it currently.

Bottom line I'm trying to get an idea on if I should be looking into replacing this rifle with a T3X or similar. I can afford a new rifle weather or not I sell this one.

Bonus question, any ideas how to mount a bipod to this front swivel?1000020576.jpg
