Using the weight tips suggested, any ideas as to how much weight a guy could cut off Hilleberg Jannu?

I've got an October Sheep Hunt in the Chugach this year and looking to step up the tent to a burly weather fighter...
I had an offer to borrow one, but curious as to just how much weight a guy could save doing these tips on the Jannu? The counter to that is the reason for the Jannu; the expectation of harsh weather. Could you drop 6-8ozs and still maintain that ability?

If I end up going solo is the Enan tough enough for harsh weather?

I would try to avoid the enan for those kind of conditions. you could probably do it but especially with colder weather the condensation can become a problem with the smaller tents. The solo tent that can handle about anything would be the Soulo it has some weight to it but it won't let you down as a free standing tent. The new Niak might not be a bad option either it is a yellow label except free standing and a 1.5 person tent so plenty of space for one guy on extended trips. Haven't been able to run that one yet but a couple buddies have and are very impressed. Is comes in a couple pounds under the Soulo.

Thanks! That Niak looks good! Any thoughts on weight cutting on the Jannu?

A few things you could do would be to replace the zipper pulls with cord, replace a few of the V-pegs with MSR mini groundhog stakes and replace the 3mm guy lines with 2mm. I'm not sure what your total weight saving would be, but I would guess it'll be more than a couple ounces.

I was able to check out the Niak in person this weekend. Local shop had one. That material is pretty thin. Amazing how stuff that light can be as strong as it is.

Their material is coated in silicon multiple times which makes it SUPER tear resistant and waterproof. Did you get your hands on a catalog? That tear test they have is pretty impressive

They did not have a catalog on hand. Any chance you (Grant) can post that info? Sounds interesting.

They just had the tent set up on the floor. If I get by there again I will take a few pictures. Unless Grant beats me to it. : )
Its a tight tent for 2. the two pads and sleeping bags they had lying in there were pretty dang close together.

I just want it for solo use.I'm looking for a 3 + season bombroof solo option right around 3 pounds that is as free standing as i can get.Their other tents i find a bit to heavy.
