You guys recently steered me in a great direction with the Saloman Quest 4d for myself.... I need your help again, my younger brother has feet flatter than a hobbit, literally no arch whatsoever. We would like to find him a similar type boot (not mountaineering). His feet aren't particularly wide, just flat as all get out.

In a nutshell I'm looking for a narrow heel, minimal arch support, roomy toe box. Does it exist?

Willow how would the MOABs work for an antelope hunt. They seem like they would be a good warm weather boot.

Wow. I never would have found these without your suggestion. Looks like just the ticket. Thanks

GWL, the Moabs would be very comfortable for an antelope hunt (likely warm with lots of walking), but they would also be very susceptible to cactus needles/thorns/prickers coming through the mesh. Just food for thought depending on the type of anticipated terrain.

Good luck!

Totally agree! The Moabs are great for rock crawling, river crossings, and general trails during warm weather. They're not 100% waterproof from my experiences. But they are light and give very sure footing for rough terrain.

I made the mistake buying the moabs a few years ago. super light and comfy, but I wore them in tall dry grass. I was out hiking off trail through the grass while fishing from shore. By the end of the day the boots were ruined. Completely stuffed full of stickers and foxtails. Foxtails will melt right through em and never come out.

There was a discussion a few months ago about the moabs. A lot of guys hadn't had a great experience with them. I found them to kill my arches when I wore them. And I wore them bird hunting once and ended up getting stuck by cactus a couple times. What size shoe does he wear?

Oh man. Doesn't sound like that's the route to travel. I believe he wears a 10.5. One of the areas we hog hunt is foxtail central.

Well if you wanted to try some out I'm pretty sure mine are 10.5. He can have them. They haven't been used very much.

Good point. I forgot about that until you mentioned it. I remember hiking through some spear grass and coming out with shoes full of it. But whatever shoes he chooses I'd recommend that he buy some good insoles that fit his feet. It's almost impossible for me to get a shoe that fits correctly right out of the box. The Reebok ERT's are one of the few.
