Here I thought Ryan Lamper was one of the good guys for the hunting world…

But are they on the weapon? Thats where the issue is.

And im far from a anti thermal guy.

We probably should not allow stabilizing binos too. Game cameras are bad, anything more then iron sites are not sportsmans like.
No not on the weapon. Look man I just don’t think anyone can honestly say that thermal monoculars are ethical. I’ve hunted with guys that have them and it is unreal the amount of animals you can see hiding in the brush that you would otherwise not see. Just really doesn’t feel right to me and feels like it is in a whole different tier of technology than game cameras and image stabilizing binos. But that’s my personal opinion so who the hell knows maybe the majority of hunters think it’s ethical so be it.

The Salmon river is the only boundary between the 2 units mentioned in the article. There's a zero percent chance you screw that up and think you're in the correct unit, especially a guy like Lampers who has been hunting for a very, very long time.

While I completely agree about the ethics of thermals and have had the exact same experience we need to keep this thread about the gravity of the charges. Keep it on the subject and no bickering so the mods don’t lock it again.

If there’s one good thing I’m seeing about all of this across multiple forums and hearing from friends that use IG and FB is this is shaking the entire influencing community. I don’t have a pipe dream of hunting media and YouTubers going away tomorrow. But so many people are fed up and quitting the drug that’s killing them- hunting SM.

I JUST had this conversation with a close hunting partner a few weeks ago. Talking about just not sharing any kills on social media, forums or anything else this year. Just sending pics to good buddy’s like we used to do and calling it good. It sounded pretty good honestly.

Why might you get upset over a guy going a unit over?
Why should you follow these rules?
That’s my question precisely. We need rules and regulations in place to ensure the most people get the best use out of our public lands and resources. I think it’s reasonable to expect our elected officials to judicially create well thought out and meaningful rules and regulations. If they’re going to create arbitrary rules and regulations why should I care if someone else ignores them?
Would you be ok with a couple days before season or a couple days after? How about if you were hunting the stateline? Anything on either side game?
Am I going to violate these regulations? No. Am I going to get upset if some other guy did? Nope, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. There are a 1000 other criminal actions that have far greater potential impact on my family that I’m going to devote my bandwidth towards
Exactly what part has you confused?

A lot of you are acting like he took food off your kids plate. I don’t understand the emotional reaction.

You def went on posting/sharing/podcast spree for a minute. I’m glad you’re rethinking from now on. I promise you this, you will not miss it one single bit and the stories you and buddies share amongst eachother privately will carry far more meaning knowing it’s more personal. We make shared albums and it works well.

I did a hard stop posting kills 2016. Kept watching YouTube hunts until 2020. Now the only hunting related podcast I listen to is huntquietly and a little of Robby when he talks habitat and biology with real professionals.

I will miss your stories/photos.

At this point I don't know if you are trolling on purpose or just clueless.

Yes for sure I did man! It’s a weird path honestly. Starts off innocent enough. Then it turns into an ego feed with constant pats on the back from strangers. Then I liked the terminal ballistics report stuff. And now, I just want to hunt and be left alone sometimes (most of the time) lol. I’d forget to send pics to close friends, and then they’d see it on Instagram first and call asking about the story and stuff. Kind of guilty feeling.

This is disappointing and sad news - I enjoyed listening and watching Lampers.

I wonder why he is selling his house, bunch of equipment, and vehicles/ trailers? I mean legal fees are expensive but thats excessive. Something else brewing?

He and his wife just lost their major source of income - that's enough to cause all of the above.

Couple of things:

1) Its really sad how many grown adults in society get excited seeing others fail and make mistakes. On all levels, but especially here where we should all be brothers of the hunting community. Some of you men need to grow up and realize that we have all made our mistakes and all of us have let our pride get the best of us at times. Especially for a guy that has the reputation Ryan does preceding this, we should give the man some grace - atleast until the story plays out.

2) Brian and/or the camera man are absolutely part of this. They likely had to rat him out to avoid being accomplices. Another reason to be very careful who you hunt with.

This thread is a train wreck. Here’s a better one.

I am glad to hear this. I am not on any social media except this forum and maybe watching a few youtube videos. I sincerely hope the gravity and reality of how the general hunting community (and public). feels and views this is becoming apparent to the influencers

I don't think what Ryan was doing was a huge source of income. Hillary is a practicing Physician.

I believe he had the freedom he did because of her income.

No, she can keep peddling the non evidence supported essential oils and vitamins and calling herself doctor through her naturopathic clinic. That is once aspect of all of this that has always bothered me, we have tolerated and nobody has ever called him or her out on their snake oil crap they push/sale.
