Having a heck of a time figuring out arrows for thi year. Talked myself into Deep Six stuff and im not impressed.

The two things I am looking for are the correct spine, and being able to use a 150 grain standard thread broadhead.

Chill R 72# @28" 75% Rock mods

Gold Tip Kinetics 200 spine??? I do not like and wont use VAP outserts.

I like the weight of the Kinetics, about pulled the trigger but I am tired of getting it wrong, want to know for sure, just dont have access to a spine calculator.

Need some good advice ASAP as pronghorn season is Friday. I have some VAPS and Ulmer Edge with Deep six inserts that I can use but wouldrather not.

Shoot I'll run your stuff through the calc tommorrow morning and send you a PM. I'll try and find a couple different combos for you. You looking for a certain arrow weight?

Hopefully a 300 spine, im completely lost @ this point. The 300 spine VAP's bareshafted well but I had deep six inserts and 100 grain heads, really want to be able to use my VPA's

I wish arrow manufacturers would come to terms with physics and start making heavier gpi arrows!

May I ask you to share your this info with us, too?

FMJ dangerous games are pretty dang heavy GPI if that's what your looking for

Ok, so I also ran your specs through my calculator, mainly because I have had the same issues you are having, I wanted a heavy arrow with a lot of weight up front but I usually always had too weak of a spine and the arrows would never tune worth crap.
You say you will be shooting 150gr. heads. Is that the head and insert or just the head? I went with just the head for these but you can let me know if you want different.
I ran your setup as follows.
2014 Mathews Chill R
72lb DW @ 28" DL
28" arrows (can you go shorter?)
150gr Point weight
3 Bohning blazers.
Gold tip accutough nock
Again, let me know if anything needs to be changed, I'm just guessing on some of that.

Dynamic Spine for your setup: .289

GoldTip Kinetic XT, BG200
Static Spine: .200 Well on the stiffer side of the spectrum.
Total Arrow Weight: 529gr
Gr/Lb: 7.35
Kinetic Energy: 85.79 ft/lbs
FOC: 13.87%
Speed: 270.3 fps

This is almost a clone of my arrow setup. I am shooting Easton axis 300s with 175 grns up front and they hit like a ton of bricks at around 270FPS. They are pretty stiff, a .300 spine would be closer to perfect, but I think that having a stiffer spine is a lot better than having a weak one, especially in a hunting setup.

I would shoot this setup for pretty much anything out west, especially antelope in the wind at long range.

Good luck this season.

the broadheads themselves are 150 grains. The only thing that concerns me with the GT Kinetics is the half outsert deal.

Maybe the FMJ 300's with standard insert? Not sure how I feel about the HIT insert, I think the RPS insert is just the standard one.

I don't necessarily need the arrows to be 28", i just shoot fixed blade heads and wouldn't want the heads to contact the riser.

I shoot the Ripcord SOS rest if that makes any difference

The FMJ 300s with a 150 gr head are showing just on the weak side of perfect. Would still be pretty darn good IMO, Its in the same range of arrows that I shoot. Total arrow weight is 529grs with 271 FPS.

I have shot both the Kinetics and the FMJs and would say that the FMJs are more durable, but can be bent. The kinetics I only shot for a short time but I never had any complaints about them.

Is there any particular reason you dislike the outserts?

Tipsntails any luck?

Alrighty here's a few combos for you. Everything is set up with standard components of that arrow unless otherwise noted with 3 vane at 5 grains each an a 6 grain wrap.
If you have any more questions shoot me a pm or if you want any other arrow brands you want me to run.

Easton axis 300's @27" with 125 up front at 460 grains. A little lighter then what you wanted they are a touch on the weak side as well. This is the exact arrow I shoot and have had great results. If you go up to 150 up front you may be to weak. But the calculators are notorious for saying spines are to weak.

Easton axis 260 @29 with 150 up front at 523 grains
Easton axis 260 @28 with 50 grain insert and 150 up front at 552 This spines out perfectly to your setup.
Easton axis fmj 300 @27 with 150 up front at 520 grains, again on the weak side but I have no doubt they would tune fine.

Gold tip kinetic 300 @27 with 150 up front at 485 grains. Again spine a touch on the weak side.

If your willing to go to a 26.5" arrow or drop head weight to 125 these arrows will spine a touch better and a couple more arrow choices may arise.
Anything in the 200 spine your gonna be way over spined at your draw length unless you add a ton of head weight.

Came out to 556 grains fletched. Just over 16% FOC 80.819 momentum and just over 63 ft lbs of ke.

Now the most important, how do they fly????

At the range finishing fletching up now ill post tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help everyone

Why not a Gold Tip Pro Hunter in .300 spine, with the 150 gr VPA (great choice in BH, BTW)? That's got to be close to 500 gr and would spine out just right at 28" and 70lbs.

I'd already ordered the Axis 260's ;)

Plus I'm an Easton fan, can't get over how poorly the GT nocks fit my recurve's string. It's easy enough to re serve but its a confidence thing I suppose.

I wouldn't concern myself with being overspined. I really don't think that is an issue. Have you looked at the Firenock aerooutserts? Durability wouldn't be an issue and accept regular threads.
