Help me understand hunting with Berger bullets!

wish i had taken some photos of the exits from the 6.5 with a 156 EOL, that bullet is absolutely lethal. Gutting my blacktail this year it looked like i was pouring out condensed soup when we opened the diaphragm the other half dozen animals over the last couple years were similar.

I know all to well what the 156 is capable of! Great bullet.

this is the only pic i took of the damage from the first deer i took with one. quartering to, literally knocked the lungs out on the exit, deer took one step as he was falling on his nose. made me a believer

this is what a 185 berger did out of my 300 wsm. caliber sized entry cantelope sized exit. i understand its not quite the same but its a similar weight bullet with similar velocity. Every animal ive shot with my 6.5 prc has been with a berger as well, havent had to track one yet.

Now when you say Berger, you mean Burger hunting bullet or target bullet? That’s my confusion.
Seems like plenty of people love hunting with the 180 hybrid target.

185 EH for 30 cal, 156 eol for the 6.5.

Same 185 berger and 300 wsm does some serious damage. Still my go to in that gun

I couldn't get a favorable load with the 180 hybrids and H1000 so I went with 195 EOL's. Dead Deer and Elk, bullet performed great.
2nd shot, entered behind the crease, thru lung, 2" hole thru offside scapula, and found under offside hide. 1st shot was the same path but from the other side, pretty much ruined both fronts.

I haven’t seen much difference between target and hunting on game. The jacket thickness is only a few thou. I’m sure in gel or if there was some controlled test where 1000 animals were shot with the exact same shot placement there would probably be a slight difference but I haven’t personable been able to open up animals and say “yep this one was shot with a target Berger and that one was shot with a hunting Berger”

The LRHT might be the exception but others would have to chime in on that.

Hybrids kill very well, wrapping up an Audad hunt today, 300 NMI and 230 HT, dead goat at 200 yards. Here is the exit wound.
