Help me understand hunting with Berger bullets!

108 elite hunters out of my 6 creed is my favorite deer bullet currently. I have 215s loaded up for my elk hunt in October. Hope to get a chance to prove theyre just as good. Over multiple calibers, beegers have always treated me very well. I wouldnt have any hesitation.

Dumb question here, but how do you check the tips?

Berger polishes their bullets in a tumbler before packaging. There's a polishing compound in there as well, it's white. The open nose of the hybrids, elite hunter and eol line, can collect the polishing media into the open nose. You want that cleaned out and to be able to get that down to the lead core.

180 hybrid is great, the 184 Berger 7mm is just more of a good thing!

Look at them. The jacket is drawn around the core, culminating at the tip, and leaving a small hollow point.
Monitor county rifles meplat uniformer tool can be a good option to clean and uniform.

Oh ok. Yeah, I thought it was more scientific than that. Yeah mine are open. I can push a thin wire in there maybe 1/4” before it taps the core.

The picture of the open nose 220gr, has had to meplat trimmed. There will be a slight reduction in BC vs the factory pointed 220 lrht bullet on the left. Berger intentionally closes all the LRHT line of bullets(referred to as factory pointing or tipping). This process produces a slightly higher, more consistent BC from Bullet to bullet. This process also reduces the consistency of bullet upset on game, hence the process of meplat trimming that bullert for hunting.

When I mentioned checking tips, I was referring to checking from them being plugged from tumbling them in media at Berger, and cleaning if necessary.

100% agree. Their product line is confusing! hybrid, hybrid hunter, target, long range target, long range hunter, longer range hybrid hunter target…. What?

Yes those are meplat uniformed and tip drilled to ensure open tips. My goal was to get the LRHT to match the opening of the 230 hybrid.

I've shot many animals with Bergers. They work great. Keep the bullet out of the shoulder though or you'll likely lose that whole quarter or both. I always had pass through. Devastating damage.

I wish I had pictures of some of the blood trails and literal chunks of lung laying on the hillside.

Honestly almost to much damage for my liking but it's my 300wsm favorite bullet. I don't use them in any of my other rifles.

the 156 EOL's have been hammers out of my 6.5 PRC. We have killed several coues deer, mule deer, elk, and oryx with these, and all have been one shot kills. Ranges from 100-665 yards.

I've witnessed a bull shot at 10 feet through both shoulders with a Berger and it exited.

180s are deadly out of my 7 PRC at 2950. Last season shot a pronghorn at 400 yards, no complaints exit on the opposite shoulder
