I am wanting to build a left hand 450 Bushmaster on a tikka action. I figure the best way would be to buy a Tikka and have the barrel changed.

What caliber should I start with?

Will any magazines fit a 450?

What bolt do I need?

I’m sure it can be done but I don’t really know where to start.

This sounds like a Ruger American easy button. There are a few lefty 450’s on GB now.

Any Tikka T3 with a .473 bolt face (308 Win, 22-250 Rem) should work as a doner rifle. Then send it to a competent gunsmith to screw on a 450B barrel and set up an AICS style magazine for an aftermarket stock available in left hand. This project sounds a lot like $3000! Lol 😆

Buy a lefty Tikka 243 with an 8 twist barrel, get a Preferred Prefit for about $500, sell factory take off to me for $100. Have a gunsmith swap barrels or DIY.

I second Preferred Barrel prefits if they make the barrel. I've been happy with the few I now have.

There's a lot of info how to change barrels yourself, if you are into that sort of stuff. If you can find a gunsmith to pull the Tikka barrel and screw on the prefit, that would be nice.
