For those wanting AICS, we could do a standard Tikka inlet, and then you could use a Waters/Redsnake/Atlasworx conversion bottom metal. The only modification those require is to slightly open the walls of the stock (think mag well) to accommodate a wider magazine, which is internal only, no exterior modifications needed.

I haven’t been able to find much info on using any of the options. @NSI might have said something about it at one point

A laminate MS in 1:1 form would be 4 lbs.

Because outside of Hawkins Hunter mags, which don’t fit everything AICS (that I’m aware of), I don’t know of a single flush AICS mag for 223 or 6 PRC. I don’t like a mag hanging down very far. Gets really annoying when carrying the rifle.

We have different preferences then. I have no issue hooking my hand around a mag, carrying African over the shoulder when safe to do so, or strapping to a pack with a magazine. Advantages of a magazine are numerous and not easily discarded.

I used to have a strong preference for flush mags too primarily because that’s where my hunting rifles balanced without a suppressor so my hand was there when carrying. Now with cans on everything they balance well in front of the mag so it’s not in the way anymore. That foreword balance is nice for shooting off front support too.

Hawkins new mags supposedly work in Tina’s with their bottom metal in an aics platform.

I’d happily carry a mag sticking down to have the reliability j have had with aics over tikka mags

Yea. They put the mag release in the worst spot. Front bag/ deep on a pack I had dumped mags. Dump mags from a mid rifle one hand carry.

Aics leaves your mag release by your trigger guard where you should be paying attention.

Stock makers obviously can’t figure out how to keep inlet and mag depth correct with tikka mags. With aics they can be adjusted to the cartridge/rifle. Many aics mag bottom metal can be had with differing height mag releases to further tune this.

Iv got a lot of rounds on both and have had far fewer issues with aics. I can keep an aics mag running well for barrels without much hassle.
