How does everyone find leases/clubs? I’m looking for one In the southeast, preferably in Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina. I’ve been reaching out to timber companies the last year or two without much success.

If anyone here has a lease or club with open spots let me know too!

I quit running leased land clubs about 20 years ago because over half of the members wanted to pay one due and wife/kids/buddies hunt even though that was outside the rules. Folks lie to get in the club, then act as they please. Turned into some intense situations with kids seeing and hearing stuff a kid shouldn't have to deal with.
Make sure you find like minded hunters and are ready to follow the rules when you pay.
I'm in Upstate SC. If you want to send me your contact info via direct message, I'll keep an eye out for an opportunity.

I’m also in the upstate. What you described is why as a kid we left our club growing up in GA. We had too many people bringing “cousins” shooting everything that walked…

Here a 2 acre postage stamp may offer better whitetail opportunity than one person on 200 acres.
I’ve had some good luck in the bow only areas but I prefer rifle hunting and Sumpter is definitely challenging, for me atleast

Hello. Im in Tenn and i have never never leased timber land down in Nashville for a yearly permit fee. I like that better because timber land is a never ending noise work site. Sometimes it can push deer around unless you hunt in an area where theyve cut all the timber their gonna. Hope this helps

Growing up our hunting club was a timber lease and typically the cutting was in the off season. Sample size of one but that was my personal experience

More people here from the upstate of SC than live in some western states, lol.

I had a lot of trouble finding a club, but I was able to make a third tier connection with some guys through my church and we have a decent little "club". Although, it's more about having a place to take my kids than it is shooting anything worth bragging about.

Does it make it any better I lived in the Rockies for a period of time for work? It’s what started my expensive interest in western hunting.

My main goal is when I have my own kids to give them the experience ideally. So while I don’t currently have kids, I have the same ultimate goal. If y’all are lookin for another hand in young and have most of my summers and winters “off” work

I think i'd quit hunting before playing that game. Or drive a little further to where public is half ass decent.
We have public land near us, but I grew up in hunting clubs and I personally enjoyed it. Hunting camp was always fun to me and I really enjoyed improving a piece of property (food plots, clearing shoot lanes, etc). Definitely a different kind of hunting.

Complete side note, do you have anymore picture of one of your rifles with a proof sendaro inlet with a thinner barrel? I was researching it while ordering my new AG composites stock for my tikka 300 WSM build. Looking at a .810 taperless

No idea what leases cost, how far your willing to drive to hunt, or the cost per acre, but I would explore the possibility of buying land in every county within the radius your willing to travel.
10-20 acres all to yourself might be much more enjoyable than a lease

I’m near the coast in SC. Clubs / leases that have a big turnover are that way for a reason. Too many of the bigger ones have a core of older members with a constantly rotating group of new “donors”. They get the shit spots and get out after a year or two. A good club / lease usually has a wait list. I got out of the club scene years ago and have a couple of small farm leases that I hunt with friends and family, a small farm that I live on and a couple of public areas that I’ve hunted for decades. There are some really good WMAs in SC and some really shitty ones. The farther you get from population centers the better off you are. Going mid week is a big advantage. Good luck, our state’s population is exploding and finding places to hunt gets harder and harder.
