Heel slip

Well, the Salomon Quest 4D's were high on my list til I tried them on. Holy crap batman. The high arch in those things rolled the outside of my foot into the side of the boot and felt terrible. This was on flat ground in REI. I knew as soon as I put them on that they weren't for me. Ended up with a pair of Zamberlans. Went elk scouting in Idaho today and got two small blisters and it was a combination of not lacing them properly and socks sliding down and benching up. Lot of up and down and my feet felt fine after I fixed both issues. Great feeling boots. Had high hopes for those Quests but that wasn't to be. I tried on a ton of boots too. From Asolo to Zamberlan and most brands in between including the Cabelas boots. Mine are the 960 Guide GTX RR's.

I've been in the same bot for years! Tried a huge range of mountaineering boots from Lowa, Scarpa, and La Sportiva, but I could never get rid of the heel slip.

Finally this all changed last summer when I gave the Salomon Quest 4D GTX a try. At less than half the cost of my other boots I was reluctant at first, but for my narrow heel and wide forefoot they fit like a dream, couldn't be happier with them!

I've had the same experience...I've tried Lowa Camino free flex at REI(heal slip), tried Zamberlin Vios GT (heal slip, but little better) and my Saloman 4d GTX are perfect!!! I tried all sorts off inserts and footbeds with no results. I've never had issues with boots until I started high end boot looking..Just wish I had more p[laces to try different quality boots. Now sice the Lowa has this heal slip, does this mean most of Lowa will fit similarly?
