Just a heads up for guys that have 6.7 Cummins.
Just had one eat the grid heater bolt and take out the motor. I’d suggest doing the banks retrofit asap if you have one that’s out of warranty.
It’s wild to me that this has been a thing since 2007.5 and Cummins hasn’t changed anything.

From the info I just learned about this it doesn’t seem to really matter but for my own curiosity, what year is yours and how many miles?

FYI, there is a Recall on that...and Ram rises it for free before you have a problem.

And Cummins DID do something, they completely redesigned the engine for model year 2025 and 2026. No more grid heater. Intake redesigned and it now looks like the old Banks retrofit. The new ones have glow plugs.

I have a 2026 and that motor is fantastic- so far. The diesels will always have the stigma of complex emission systems. The key is to maintain them and keep them clean.

I also have a 2021 Ram 2500 with 145,000mi in my one company, that we did the grid heater recall- no problems. My Hino Diesel is at right around 200k miles and it's fantastic- you just have to maintain them.

No engine is perfect....this new Cummins comes pretty close.

I've been planning on doing this to mine, I have a 2020. The entire fuel system was replaced under warranty about 2 years ago. Glad I didn't have to pay out of pocket for that one.
