I have the Petzl zipka. Super tiny. Not the brightest, but I can go for a week with 6AAA duracells. I have no reason to change out until I get cliffed out as some have warned.

The Zebralight really is easy on batteries. The variable power setting are great and on low I believe a month is not an exageration at all. Try one and if you don't like it you'd get your money back by selling it in any classified forum. The H52 is the one I like the best. I have the "Neutral light"...not sure of the real differences but this one is perfecr for now. It is so small and with one AA I'd be OK for a week with 2 batteries total.

The same response could be used for any discussion on here or any other hunting website.

Leaving only descriptions of personal outings and hunting trips.....you're seriously coming across as an asshole.

If all we did was read old threads, how would the forum stay alive?! I use a black diamond spot A3d and it works very well. Little heavy but it has a great spotlight feature along with red light for night vision and a decent flood for camp light.

Had a Princeton Tec EOS for years AAA batts, then went with a Fenix HL20 since it uses the same batteries as my GPS AA batts.

I just got a zebra 52. Like it. 2.5 oz with 1 lithium. Also just picked up a Fenix HP01. This uses 2 AA. I wanted it for a little more throw than the Zebra. Will pack both. Only thing I don't care for is the Fenix battery "door" but will have to test it out to see if it really is a problem.

I've never had any problems with my Petzl Tikkas. I have a Zebra coming that you can take for a test drive if your looking for something really bright.

I use the Zebra. Love it. Dot nailed how I think about it also. 8 AA Lithiums you could probably run for 48 hours straight on max on the 502. A3d another resource where there are some real flashlight horders and they know their stuff down to the science is http://www.candlepowerforums.com

Those guys over there Love their flashlights. Ive done alot of research over there on Lights also. After owning this Zebra though as stated this thing is light and bulletproof and waterproof. Nice rubber rings that come with it. Other then the light it puts out I hardly know its there.

I also carry a Fenix PD35 which has 5 modes and is 850 Lumens on high beam. Its a crazy cool lightweight Flashlight for turning the woods into daytime.

Headlamp---Princeton Tec Apex Pro. Great light/multiple settings. Combine this with a fenix PD35 handheld and you can park Boeing 747's. And they both use CR123 batteries. As SHTF can relate---you will laugh your ass off the first time you turn on the PD35 in darkness.

Only 850 lumens, that's the minor league when the zebra is putting out over 1000 :)

Really another headlamp thread? Try using search it's been covered numerous times.

Wrench77, as others have said on here, there are new innovations, new members, and new experiences coming on all the time. Ryan and I pay for a lot of server space, so we might as well use it. If it becomes a problem, we'll ask members to use the search more.

If anyone thinks a thread is boring or has been covered before, just move on, or be helpful and post a link to the previous thread. Knowing Roksliders, they will add something new. That is how we roll around here- gear gear gear.

i picked up zebralight h52w and h600w mk2 recently. theyre replacing a coast h7. which replaced a coast h3. i also carry a petzl e-lite in my possibles.
the zebralights themselves feel very solid, much more than other headlamps being theyre machined from solid aluminum. no pivots or plastic to break.
the h52 feels very good on the head. its debatable whether its brighter than the coast or not but using one battery vs 3AAA is a plus for me.
the h600 is heavier than id like, but holy chit is it bright! battery life is good too. its physically bigger than the h52 as well.
the little petzl at 1oz stays in my possibles all the time for when i forget a headlamp or break/lose/whatever.

Fair enough sorry for the trouble.

Which model did you go with? The H52 or H502 aren't that much brighter than a Tikkas but they are a whole lot better in my opinion. The main benefits are that they are smaller, lighter both in general and how they feel on your head, waterproof, bombproof, and more versatile. All important features for a backcountry hunter in my opinion.

If you want unbelievably bright, give the H600w MKII a try. It's simply crazy for a headlamp and puts 99% of flashlights to shame in a much smaller package.

Got a H600w MKII.

Let me know when you get it.......would like to see what all the fuss is about. There's not a whole lot of gear out there that impresses me, so I'm always looking to be impressed. But my little flashlight impresses the heck out of me.......especially for the price, and that one AA battery seems to last for a LONG time.
