Hawaiian Goat

I’ve never reapplied. You might need to, but I’m guessing it would take years before you did.

I rubbed them with a block of beeswax, then melt it in with a heat gun, then buff with a clean rag. Really helps it get into all the nooks and crannies.

SquirrelyDan, who did the mount for you? Or did you do it yourself? I've done several muleys and elk myself, but boiling a head at the beach front condo in Maui might not go over so well...
I did it myself at my family’s place. Funny enough we don’t boil them, we pressure wash the heads. It is definitely a dirtier process, but the results are fantastic. Maui Taxidermy could certainly clean one up for ya. Haha yeah the normal tourists wouldn’t appreciate that! My last trip in November I brought the wife and got a friends condo on the water for her, while i stayed with fam upcountry. Day before we left I was washing out my bloody pack and gear at the condo, neighbors weren’t having it 😂😂

Might need to tap in as I am trying to put together a trip next year.
Would same set up for Whitetail work?
If your asking about gun and glass I’d argue yes.

6mm plus is plenty (I shot everything with a 6.5C) and 8x+ binos and no spotter is likely fine.

I used 12x and no spotter there and likely over kill. Not sure I ever saw anything more than 800 yds away.

I just returned from our spring break Maui trip and got a couple days of public land hunting in. Day one I managed to get a pig. She was an old sow. I've slow cooked both front quarters and one hind quarter into carnitas and kalua pig - it was excellent. Last night we had pork schnitzel with the backstraps - flavors were great but they were on the tougher side, despite pounding them flat. On the second hunting day I was really hoping for an axis or another pig, but bumped into heaps of goats! In the dense forest no less! I'd always thought they were up in the rocks, not in the trees... I probably saw 30-40 goats and could have easily popped a half a dozen with the rifle. I passed on the opportunity, but now reading this thread again and hearing you guys say you like the meat has me thinking otherwise. In the end I saw a doe and a pig but couldn't close the deal. All a great time. Can't wait to return.
